Smacc - Price list

I hope people will begin using this...
to Newbies, the prices may seem a bit steep, but trust me you get there fast.
The economy is trully messed up...
lately, all the Newbies, even those who have just been in the game for a few hours, nearly all have plate mails and Knightshields...
they happened to stumble across some well meaning (usually Halfling) individual, who took pitty on them and equipped them for free...
nowadays, if ye try to sell a chain mail, people WILL boo you... everyone wants plate, and if ye ask for more than 50 gold pieces, they run off horrorstruck, and then find someone else.
Now, with this current situation, no one uses any of the many armours and weapons in the game... everyone has fireswords, even though there are many other weapons to choose from...
I know no one in this game who has ever even owned a shortsword.
This appears to me as an insult to the game makers... they have toiled to create great variety in items, and give one a goal - to get money. To actually WORK for something.
But now, everyone is rich, no one needs anything, and the different craftsmen have no one to sell their goods to.
If we incorporated a more or less fix price structure, I am sure this game would be even greater than it is now...
for example, ye could lower yer prices a bit, so to outbid a competitor, but going as far as to give the best items away for free is just messed up
well
thats what I think anyway

Its the wrong Board too!
Smacc an other price lists only are ingame topics, so a GM moved your Topic from Main-Board to RPG-Board.
Why do you wrote here, the same topic?

there was a idea to implement strength with what weapons you can hold and such.
or maybe you can make it so it takes more ore, like 3 iron and coal to make or try to make a plate body ect.

Something should be done, I agree. I wasn't in the game as a noob for... 10 minutes, before someone gave me some armor, shield, helm, axe.. etc.. Okay, I'll use these til I find better... start playing a little and.. what the heck you mean I got the best already? Dang it, what the heck am I going to do with my gold now? Arg. Well, there goes at least a few weeks of playing to get items down the drain... (Almost got rid of them but... in RP there is no way in hades I would).
Personally, I dont like games that impose stat/level type limitations on items. I think the only solution is just to make them harder to make.
In reality I can spend maybe 4 days in teh game and make the best armour, sword, shield, etc... and I'm still a noob at that point. Why not give away items? Heck, it only took me this long to get skills, and all it cost me is a second mining and blacksmithing...
Okay, so maybe make a special item required to make full *magical* plate, a special gem that only drops in one of the hardest dungeons. Even making this plate 1 stat point better than current plate (or making current plate this plate) poeople will want it and pay for it, and it is no longer easy to make. Now not only do I have to know how to mine, but I actually have to be able to get ahold of this gem somehow. Either buy it, or go hunt for it. If I have to buy it, there is no way in hades i"m going to give this plate to a newbie. If I have to hunt for it, again, no way, I'm giong to sell it to someone who doesnt' hunt or make my own. Now plate mail is worth something again.
Firesword (is that manufactured?) should perhaps require a fire gem. Or be hardened in the flames of a forge in the demon cave or... whatever.
Okay, so now you turn into EQ with item quests. But, at least they had value in EQ. But, then you dont have time to RP so...
Make it so you can buy these special items in the store so you don't have to quest for them. 200 gold for plate gem, etc...
When things are easy to make, then they have little value, no matter how good they are.
Even making blacksmithing skill go up slower would work. Instead of taking 4 days, make it take 2 weeks, 3 weeks. Now my skill is worth somethign, because no longer is every Tom Dick and Harry a blacksmith.
When there were fewer people in the game, it was perhaps different.

Admittedly a noob, so take anything I say with a grain of salt.
