People die of old age all the time. Entropy consumes us all. Is there no way to circumvent this? (there shouldn't be, and if you try, well, read on) Maybe there is...
YES FOLKS, I GOT A STUPID PROPOSITION!
There may be a few ways a character can retain his or her youth.
The first is to make a "Dark Deal" with malevolent Thyngs. This tends to attract "unwanted attention" ("Evil" creatures hunt them out actively. Vampires, Zombies, Skeletons, and whatnot, and will not give up chase and will not give quarter) Also, this shifts the characters alignment closer to malevolence (or evil or badness or whatever) with all the bad karma that comes with it.
The second is to earn it by having a Pure Heart and sacrificing some of yourself to the spirits of life. (In other words, you need the best alignment one can have, you have to give up some skill levels, and every 10 points you spend lowers your age by one year)
Look, I know it's dumb, and there's probably already a solution for old age, but how many people out there are afraid of dying of sickness and weakness, and, if part of role-playing is acting like a real person, then this should make sense (except it doesn't, and it's completely stupid, but I can dream, can't I?)

age has no effect in the world right now...
in the future, weight may determine how much food you can eat... and how much is needed to fill your hunger maybe..... and age might be some factor too..... im not sure.

Your plan is nice, but are you sure you're talking about Illarion..because last time I checked the age didn't matter, people didn't die of old age, there is no alignment. Regardless, should that ever be so, I'm sure it's a great idea.

I don't think our characters age THAT quickly... unless, he/she started out at 87 years old or something.
Erdrick realizes this is his chance to clear something up
"I AM NOT OLD! I am actually in my mid-twenties! Why does everyone walk up and say, 'Ooh, look, an old guy...'
Erdrick ends his little speech with a bow, hears his back snap, and grins sheepishly.
((To all players: That was just a joke. Erdrick isn't old. Please stop calling him "Old dude"))
.. ((Just because I have been playing for 2 years doesn't mean I'm elderly))
((Erdrick is a very successful, young merchant, with a bright future, and MANY, repeat, MANY years ahead of him))
((This is the end of the ()'s, good day to all of you))
((P.S. Good proposal, I don't think it will be implemented soon though))
