Weather effects? - Go go Martin! :)
Say, do you remeber the certain day on last week when some GM (supposedly Martin) sent all those nifty "weather effects"?
"It's raining heavily" caused many people to react like "Phuh, we'd better go inside before we get wet."
I think that it was great, and it showed that hey, we can have weather completely WITHOUT any graphical stuff. (Graphics would be nice thought, but not required.)
So if there is a possiblity to add more such "effects" or a possiblity to check the weather by some command, please do it, if it doesn't cause too much work for you.

Weather effects?
yes, it was me and i like the idea. i think that this can be implemented quite easily, but it has to be done on the server, which means that it will need some time..

But if possible please make rain, it's a bit corny when it's clear as day and we pretend it's raining.
((It just makes it hard for me to do that, even when I say "#me sits down" it sounds strange because I am still standing up.))
But I rattle on, don't mind me.

So you must stop using "#me sits down" then.
I have no troubles picturing weatherchanges, especially rain, it's kindda like reading a book, and then picturing everything in your mind.
Surely graphics would be "nice" but this way the graphicartists would spare time to some other stuff..
Nigth and day would be the most important graphical "effects" if any would be added..

It's exactly like reading a book. And i love reading books, i find it very easy to picture that sort of stuff (although you get your people who really detest reading and i assume they probably find it hard to imagine, cause when you can it's like watching a movie in your mind...only they last longer, and they're usually better
)

Weather effects?
creating 2 or 3 raindrops isnt work for the graphical artists. i'd need about 3 minutes for it.
but it's much work for the server and client programers...

Just dim the game screen when it is supposed to be raining or cloudy. I think that is enough to induce the effect on the game.

I agree with astral, dimming of the screen would be ok. There could also be disadvantages for being out in rain (e.g slower movement). What do you think astral?
Weather effects?
Slowed movement would be good, although I don't know how feasable it would be in the game. You could think of a lot of other side-effects to weather conditions, but I don't think they could all be put in. But I think slower movement is the most practical.
And if it rains alot, maybe we could have the "bridge" to the mummy ruins disappear and the waterways expand and random tiles of water appear and the buildings start sinking into the ground and people start dying from quicksand and...and...
Ok, maybe that is a bit too farfetched
