Proposal
Hey, yeah, I just had an encounter with Keikan, decided he would delete my post which explained how Juli, (Taylor's sister), died and was going to change the way Taylor was.
However, Keikan believed that a rape scene which wasn't explicit if Keikan wants to show excerps of it, he would prove it. All I wrote was Julian was unconscious naked and a theif was taking advantage of her.
Since this is suposed to be a mature game, (it says so on the home page), I assumed the gms were mature as well.
But apparently they believe a non explicit rape scene is worse then a gruesome murder scene.
I propose that we are not allowed to write bloody murder scenes because they might sicken some people.

A rape is a thing that REALLY happens to some people.
The last time i experienced a "rape description" situation in a (live) RPG, one of the participating girls (not who played the victim) grew pale, started trembling, and went unconscious. She left the next day. She had experienced such a Situation in her life.
The Game Masters of this game of course threw out the players. To play rapes is strictly against the rules because some people who may have experienced that can really get a hard shock from it, which may need days or even weeks to recover from.
In the illarion rules, at rule 3, is just a remark about sexistic things, which does not really count for this situation. But for every person who thinks for a moment it should be clear not to use this theme.
We should take that into the rules. I thought this should be clear to everyone.
As far as i remember, in the beginning times of illarion has been a player who started to RP rapes on other female players. One of them never played again.
The player did not stop after asking, and got a permaban for all characters.

Well that stinks, we could always use a little "out there"ness to loosen up people. Besides, sexuality is really quite foreign besides inuendo to Illarion. I relize it is a little extreme for most people's taste for a game though, you have to understand that. Violence involves other people, sexuality is private between two individuals.
Edit: I agree with mr.Damien ^

well, there are propably many bordercases, that are not explicitly in the rules. such would be impossible.
but we have come to agree, that this special theme is across the border.
way to many people had a bad experience with it, and you never know who sits on the other side of the screen.
of course its unrealistic and reduces possibilities, but thats the way it is.
the goal of this game is to give people fun, and not to push them over.
and the last thing i would like to happen is, that someone ends up in psychiatry after such a happening. and as damien described, this theme is able to do so.

I am not sure what I should think of your answer.
You wanted to make sure that there are "emotions in it" !?
That makes me belive you did not spend a single minute of thinking how your post would appear to others which is kind of sad.
And still you wonder why I find it disgusting?
Well, thats the emoition you evoke in me.
I wish that you and nobody next to you will ever experienace such thing, there is no need to open your eyes this way.
On top of all, you used a character that was not your own.
I spoke to Julians player and she never agreed in this scene, or the death of this character.

This situation would make the game more real...yet the game in my opinion helps me zone out a little from reality. Perhaps brining one situation of rape or some type of "Disturbing" image into the game would (again I say perhaps) invoke others to think it is ok. If Keikan does not want you to post the stary then just listen. Keikan has a good reason to not let you post this so.......take my advice when a GM says to not post something then the should have a good reason for it. A word to the wise dont argue with a GM (they usually know the rules better than any one.).

Damien, is that a threat or a promise? Anyway, just thought I'd put my two cents in:
When I was in Grade six, in North Carolina (USA), a female teacher at my school raped a boy, from our school, on New Year's Eve. She was the nicest teacher, everyone who had her loved her science class. We were all devistated when it happened. My friends who had her class were practically pulling their hair out thinking of how many times they had been alone in her room with her, and how it just could have been them she had chosen for her sick pleasure.
Right, I know that was pointless to throw in, and if my disposition were a bit more related to remorse, I would probably not be laughing at the television at the moment. But now, I must compliment the GMs on their actions in this one, sorry Taylor.

Damien said that rape is something that happens to some people... well, so does bloody vicious murder (like some that have taken place on the boards and ingame RPs). I don't think its anyone's place to make that judgment call, when there may be someone out there who was witness to a gory murder or had a relative that died as such. Seriously, if you're going to prohibit one, prohibit it all. If not, then leave it alone.

I haven't witnessed murder, but I've been in the vicinity of a murder. I saw the victim before and after his death. I heard the gun shots. If that counts for anything, I'm still not bothered by roleplaying accounts of murder.
I haven't witnessed rape, but it still bothers me that this was on the board. Here's why:
I have a friend who was raped and left for dead on the side of the road many years ago. She was constantly afraid of being anywhere near the scene where it happened. She wouldn't even go to the town where she was driving from when she was run off the road unless she was with a group of trusted friends. The very mention of rape would make her noticeabley ill. Eventually she moved away, feeling too awkward still living in the area.
Second of all, if you had read this thread thoroughly, you'd realize that this rape was also forced roleplay. That adds a new dimension of creepiness to his board roleplaying, that the person who was "raped" was someone who didn't agree to even be a part of this roleplay.

Incorrect Mosh, Trish basically gave me free roam with her characters because she was quitting for ooc reasons. We were ment to roleplay meeting and then a lot of things would happen testing their relationship, since she quit and wasn't coming back, I decided I should move Taylor's roleplay along.
Keikan simply assumed I never spoke to Trish before hand... But it is ok, he just didn't know, that Trish and I not only use each other's characters in this game, but also in little books we are trying to do.

I think with the homepage giving the details of the game it would mean people of emotion disposition (etc) to murder and/or violence would realise that such scenes are likely to be played here and would chose not to play or read the forums. Also, as this game is likely to attract young players then I do not think that scenes of a sexual nature should be portrayed here (even though in this case it did not seem so explicit.)
@Galim - This scene was written on the board without the consent of the player of Julian. They didn't swap characters in game, I just suppose that PO Taylor was trying to form a roleplaying reason for the Character Julian to be no longer in game.

I've been asked out of my cozy non-existance to comment upon this. I haven't time to read the entire thread. Bottom line. My characters are mine and only mine to create, order around and do with what I choose. I'm gone, therefore my characters are out of play, no matter what plans I made before.Taylor Dunn wrote:Incorrect Mosh, Trish basically gave me free roam with her characters because she was quitting for ooc reasons. The player of Taylor has been given permission to use Juli in his Non-Illarion story. However, the rules clearly state that in Illarion, character swapping is strictly forbidden.
First, no character should be forced into action. No action should be written or assumed by any player other than the character's owner. This is restricted in ALL role playing games. Secondly, if I choose to take a sneak peak at Illarion at some point in the future, I'd like to have a living character to do so with...
Viola is dead; I killed her off.
Any other characters I have are simply "missing", "travelling", or "hiding".
If everyone follows the rules, everyone will have the same opportunity to have fun.
