some questions..

Post by martin »

as you all know, i'm not the one who plays illarion very often. in order to gain some knowledge i've got some questions, maybe some of you can answer them:
1) how difficult are creatures to kill? (for different professions)
2) how hard are other playing chars to kill? (for different professions)
3) how fast does one become "strong"? (fdp)
4) do you like the fighting system? does it need to be improved? (for different kinds of fighting...)
5) are fights too long/short?
6) are there spells you want to have introduced?
7) is there enough magic *outside* fighting magic?

A lot of these things have been discussed before, so I"lll just summarize my answers a bit

1) For weapon users, max your stats at creation and get good skills and you got no problems. For mages, just get decent parry and use two shields to block and attack with magic and you got not problems.

2) Max stats, good parry and 2 shields, you can't be hurt by weapons. Don't use two sheilds, you die by weapons too easily. Low magic resist = get paralyzed. Can just log off if all else fails.

3)Too easy to raise fighting skills if you find someone strong to help you. Too hard to raise magic resistance without seemingly powergaming.

4)Some changes needed, but too many pros and cons already mentioned before come to mind

5) Too short.

6) Yes. Half the spells now are practically useless.

7) Not sure, 3 out of 15 spells are not "attack"

1) There is a BIG gap between some monsters, so we need to go train for a bit before we can take on the next one. I have seen that new monster, btw Martin, it is great :)
Mages have an overall advantage in combat, as Druids can't poison monsters.
2)Players who aim to kill are mages (reason: fighting spells) and wear 2 shields.
Hard as heck to beat 'em, unless they are archers, then you just need to shoot em a few times.
3)Becoming strong is a little tough, but I have been testing both everyone's RP skills and the different combat skills with a newbie character, and found that monsters can work good. But, training with a friend is a little safer and easier than say Demons.
This will be much easier with the new monster I've seen, if it is somewhat like an ogre.
4)Fighting: Needles and scissors are the only puncture, that needs to be fixed. It would be nice if we had a couple more types of fighting skills. (I mean, 5 right now, ick)
5) I think they are OK, but wind arrows and fists hurt quite a lot to people who don't wear 2 shields. Two shields should disable spells.
But, if you think about it, how many slashes does it take to kill a scorpion? About 2.
6)Creature summoning, Temporary Invisibility, and Enchant Weapon! So we can have Toxic Swords, Frost Swords and Flame Swords! (temporary of course)
7) Answered in Question 6. Also, for Poison, why doesn't it last?

Martin, is there any chance us druids can get a Spell Block spell? So we can temporarily disable a spell from Mages? Somewhat like Paralyze, except it locks the Alt button.

Hope mine helped (and wasn't too different from Dyluck's)

@Dylucks quote

.. yes I agree

And well someone also suggested a new monster

so about this magic resistance powergamming thing, well its real hard to increase it... and it will be unfair for newbies (well maybe also a newbie like myself, but hehe I am not only about skills.. 50/50 though)not to do this powergaming thing just to have something againts those powerfull evil people roaming around (if ever) then I get warned because of powergaming.....

so why not create a new monster who fights with magick?
or even both if thee wishes.. it would be a new challenge to fight them
I dont know if this has ever been suggested before though..

well I know it takes a lot of programming to do do this.. I can wait.. even a year or so
and if you ever consider this.. I can help with the graphics..
