Once again I have an idea!!! - In game mail system...

Ok here it is people, why don't we have an in game mail system???  A person addresses the letter to a person via their number and puts in a mail box. The letter would then be sent to the persons depot. We could eventually upgrade this to sending items and what have you. This would be effective once the world expands more and would also bring better commerce when we could send items. I understand that this would be quite hard to program into the game (I am a young programmer myself and understand the pain and anguish of implementing new ideas). Anywho, this poped into my head and I thought it was a good one. Once again, please do not bash this idea if it has been suggested before and feel free to elaborate and make it even better!!!!

This might be a sensible thing,
but one thing it wont do:  increase trading

quite to the contrary. it will be much easier to transfer things from one char to the other that belongs to oneself.

I like the idea of having a mail system, especially if there is a lag on the message: the message "travels" at riding speed (thats only a time & distance check). Also there should be a small fee for using this service.

Another option would be to just have pen, paper/parchment and the finished letter as objects which have to be carried by somebody. In this way players may operate a mail system.

Things should not be allowed to travel far, there should always be the need to carry them or at least walk the distance to take them out of the depot. Why not pay players for delivering goods?

It is planned that you can buy mail doves to deliver messages to other persons. These doves would take some time to get to their destination and will return to deliver another message later. So rich players can buy many doves to send many messages at once. Doves would have a chance of getting lost, or even be visible on the map, so they can be shot down.
