Greetings... I don't know if you write the answer (if there is one) or if we should try all to find it out... I have some questions to some spells...
Most magicians know that one spell hurts more than any other... (I won't tell it for that guys, who don't know/think it) So I asked why THIS spell is better than the others? I tested a while if others had specials, but I just found 4 spells which don't just hurt... I think on the spell "damage/schaden"... it is named damage but it hurt less than the most other, so I thought it will maybe increase the damage of friends or discrease that from enemys...
I don't want to know, WHAT they do, but maybe you can tell me, IF they can do other things... or maybe how many because 4 spells I know, which don't just hurt.
And when I think on fire and ice... maybe some creatures wouldn't be hurt by ice and you must make fire but I don't mean that with specials ;).
Thanks...

Ahh this is good I was just about to post something about this..
If a mage chooses to fight with magic, they have many offensive spells but die if theyt aren't clever or quick. IN Caves they are practically dead if alone.
I think spells like Drain "take enemy's life as your own"
Shield spell "raises defense for mage or another he casts it on "including monster"
Weaken and strength spell Weaken lowers defense of monster ect.. how about a slow spell? Monster moves half normal speed to give time to cast.
A Push spell would be nice. It would push a creature backwards one space
Hmm what else..
How about a spell to summon a better weapon?
AKA Firesword is no longer makeable instead a mage would need to summon it and it would decay in time.
That would add something interesting. instead of magic enhancing items.. magic can be cast on items but destroys item after magic is gone. That could lead to alot of risk also
Good and bad to everything.
All for now I have to get back to work!

I don't know what it is on english, but I would be pleased if you can summon things and (now the word I don't know) a doublewalker or twicewalker (deutsch: Doppelgänger... p.s. ich habs versucht ok?)
When a mage goes alone in a cave or something else, the summon monster could hold the enemy back... but... there are enough runes which will come soon (I hope)
At first I want to know what I have written at first of the topic...

Spells
Doppleganger, Clone of something.. look alike.
Maybe even a Illusion of your own character appears for a short time on the selected spot?
Monsters attack that instead of you giving time to cast or run. It would also be a hoot in twon
Only problem with alot of spells it thier malicious use in the wrong hands and keeping them from not only being annoying but not powerful enough to upset the balance of the game

Dax, the balance will not be upset. To be a truly great wizard, like I hope to be, you must neglect many of your other teachings. Thus you could pick up any other weapon and hit me if you can reach me. The problem lies in if I let you reach me.

you can already shove monsters and people away from you one square. i think the best thing you could do for mages would be to give them a targeting system. that is the biggest disadvantage to mages over warriors.

Why does everyone think of misuse here?
If Sauron hadn´t misused his power, no Fellowship of the Ring would´ve formed. Misuse is one of the major damnations of evil.
This is a ROLE PLAYING GAME! Hey, wake up. If the GMs don´t give us NPCs besides Monsters, that mean a challenge to the good, then the PCs have to create them too. Were would adventures come from?
If there were a few mighty but selfish mages, quests would evolve themselves. And there would be some mighty mages on the good side also.
The Balance will be kept by itself. At the moment, there are more good mages than evil, and that means also Disbalance, don´t forget that.
Summoning spells would attract evil mages, for they could conjur up some demons. No good mage would do that (if played well). So, why not add some spice to the game?
