Looking for a Sister...

Post by Taylor Dunn »

Taylor Dunn was a young man of twenty. He was the son of a rich land Baron on the mainland. He was a skilled bowman and had a light inside of him that shielded him from most magic. He wasn't a warrior, but he wasn't a coward he fought when he needed to never when he wanted to show off. He respected life far to much to be taking it for self profit.
He stood silently at the front of the ship that was taking him to the island where his sister dwelt. She had run away and he left her life of luxury and life of respectability behind. He had come looking for her now to bring her back because their father and mother were worried sick about her.
Behind him some of his servants worked to keep the large ship moving. He was coming to bring Julian Dunn back home.

Taylor had some bread and jam, the bread was fresh and soft. Every minute seemed to take an eternity to pass. Several of his servants had begun go to sleep as it was getting late, but there were some of the poorer servants who needed the extra money and stayed up late into the night making sure the boat kept on course.

Taylor put on his hunting armor, it was light and didn't stop a blade, but it did add some protection to his unprotected skin. For an bowman he needed to be light and have plenty of flexabiltiy, heavy armor wouldn't suit him. He struggled to get his tight fitting leather pants up his legs.
He put a dirt under his belt and put his bow and quivers in his bag.
He was ready to get off the boat and search for his sister. Unfortunetly fog had wrapped the ship up and Taylor had no idea how far or how close he was to the island.

Konstantin stood hooded and sad, at the cliffs by the sea. He spent several days there already. Arkadia's death, Grant's departure, Alice's suicide - had made him absolutely insensitive, if he ever was sensitive to anything at all.

He carelessly watched the coming and leaving ships without much interest. Another ship had just arrived, but Konstantin left this picture without much attention. He stood motionless, like his black soft-leather boots were glued to the rocks.

In his thoughts he was not here. He was meditating. He had strange visions lately. A drop of sweat had fell from his dark brow.

Taylor met several people for his first day in town, he also learned much about what the recent news was on the island. He learned that some invincible warrior named Darlok and his country of Northerot was at war against the town. He also learned that his older sister Julian was a citizen of Northerot.
He was getting that much closer to Juli...

A figure standing beneath a tree leans upon hes bow and watches the young man with interest, after tracking the human for a few days the figure was silently content with the knowledge he still had not been spotted.
The figure mutters quietly under hes beath.

' What an interesting young man, he's spoken to one of the few people upon this isle who i would have thought doesnt take kindly to visitors and hes still as eager to find this lady as the first day he arrived '

After a long day of work in the mines and a nice bath in an underground stream, tired Trogan was walking through the town of Troll's Bane, carrying his massive, strong, beer-loving figure to the Tavern with pride; with his hammer, shovel, and double axe on his back.

Taylor had just spoken with Athian about drama he had been worrying about, Taylor laughed at the poor luck his new friend had gotten and was walking down the street to the tavern when he bumped into a fair looking man. Taylor spoke to him and asked if the man knew Julian, he did, it was then that Taylor noticed the man was sizing Taylor up. But Taylor paid no attention to this, he was too iggnorant and too young to pay attention to see the danger in such behavior.
When Taylor was about to leave the man asked Taylor to give Juli a message, Taylor moved closer to the man and in an instant the man had his hand on Taylor's neck and pressed against it was an arrow head. Taylor didn't move or speak, he was frozen in place...
"Tell your sister she owes me something" the man said.
Taylor asked for the mans name, it was Drathe a carpenter and an archer.
The man then put the arrowhead back under his cloak and walked away as politely as possible. Taylor walks back to the shop's wall and leaned against it. He was lost in thought, he hadn't expected to worry about WHO Juli had met here, but not it seemed he would.
What could Juli have taken from Drathe to threaten Taylor's safety?

"Another day another hundred coins..." Taylor says as he puts the gold coins in his pocket. He had been making quite a nice profit off of being a novice carpenter. He hadn't found his sister and luckily hadn't bumped into Drathe again.
He knew his sister was close, he could some how feel it in his gut that soon they would be reunited and would go home together and leave the civil war on this island behind. He didn't care about this Darlok or the Town Guard and their damn war. He only cared that his older sister went home with him back to their manor safely.
Taylor would tell their dad about his adventures on their foreign island and the gold he had earned all alone. Mother would teach Julian how to cook and how to judge the taste and fair wines.
They would live as a family, and they would be happy. That is what Taylor wanted in his life, happiness.

Trogan enters the tavern with a smile of exhaustion.
-Bartender! Beer please!
As the beverage is served, Trogan sits on a chair and enjoys his rest. Suddenly, he hears loud, troubling voices from outside.

He gets off the chair and looks outside.

At some distance from him, two people are speaking across the river.
On one side of the river stands a young man in green clothings. On the other side - stand several people. A human and an elfess, and in front of them, close to water - a tall man dressed in pitch black clothings.

-Well, well, well... if this isn't Taylor Dunn! - the black man shouts coldly.
-Aye... but sorry, I am in a hurry, I have work to do.
-No, stop, wait a second. - the man plays with a large sharp knife.
-I am not much of a fighter, sir. - says the young lad warily.
-Did a man named Drathe approach you?
-Yes! He did. Held me at a point of an arrow tip.
-Next time you see him, if you do, tell him this: if he has something to say to Julian, he has to say it to me first!
-Alright. And what was your name, sir?

-Hey! Mister! - the bartender called Trogan, distracting him from listening the conversation. - What about the money? You going to pay for the beer?
-Aaa... aye, certainly, mate. Sorry. It looked like something was up there...
-Gold first, master dwarf, and then you can enjoy the sounds of streets all you want.
-Sure, sure...

Trogan pays the bartender, and looks outside, but everybody is gone. The lad, and the black dressed man, whose name he never caught.

Taylor had gotten used to the town and it's inhabitants. He still didn't feel confident enough in going to the city of Northerot alone. He was intrigued by Darlok, he had somehow forced an entire town of inhabitants to build his castle and he had kept his castle and his land for so long. And Taylor had learned that Darlok had destroyed the old dwarven city. Such power in a single man was amazing and frighteing to Taylor.
Taylor knew Darlok was evil, and Taylor knew Darlok probably wouldn't let a citizen of his leave his lands without compensation. But Taylor would force Darlok to let Julian leave.
Then they would be a happy family once more...
