Bürger von Trollsbane / Citizens of Trolls Bane

Citizens of Trolls Bane
We the Grey Rose know about your striving for more autonomy to Silverbrand and Greensbriar. Further we are aware of the wish of giving more responsibility and political power into the hand of free elected citizens.
The Knights of the Grey Rose are going to comply with those wishes and strivings now and herewith announces following:
The Grey Rose retires from the Lyrenzia Council as of now and leave their seat a free elected councillor of Trolls Bane. The same applies to the seat of the Smacc Council, which the Knights hold up to now.
This doesn't mean that the Knights are going to withdraw from Trolls Banes interests. We will continue to be citizens of Trolls Bane and Lyrenzia and make efforts for the sake of the town. Further we are going to fulfill the function as the protecting power, that was given to us by the Lyrenzia Council.
Furthermore we bow with this step to the public opinion which is among you. Should knights of the Grey Rose, as citizens of the town, decide to rejoin the council, this won't happen with the previous matter of course. We are going to bow to the public election and their decision. Any further political action of the Grey Rose within Lyrenzia is herewith laid in your hands.
Use this chance and participate at the reforming process of Lyrenzia which is to be ring in just now. Use this possibility and volunteer for the sake of Troll's Bane.

Knights of the Grey Rose,
Hopefully this is a start that will end with foreign nations, such as Greenbriar and Silberbrand, withdrawing their seats and voting rights as well, though I don't foresee it in any possible future.
In any case, could the public be informed, if it is not too personal, what lead up to this change? Was not the Grey Rose among the original guilds within Lyrenzia, forming the basis upon which it stands? I don't demand any of this knowledge, but seek it, for curiosity's sake.
Also, will the Grey Rose continue their relationship with Lyrenzia so far as continuing to be the standing army of Trollsbane?
One last question, with the Grey Rose resigning their position within Lyrenzia, will their spun-off brethren, the Order of the Grey Light, be following their lead?
In Cheer,
~~Moskher Heszche

Moskher,If Greenbriar was to withdraw it's seat, then how would we participat in the growing changes mentioned here-in? Foremost, it is not Greenbriar that holds a vote, but the Evergreen Halflings, a guild which also works within Troll's Bane. Greenbriar is merely our home.

Brendan,
We have met in person before, and, in fact, you were the first person I met on this island. You know I mean you and yours no harm, but I will not rest on this matter.
You misunderstand my point. For your guild to have a chair on the Lyrenzia Council, at least half of your membership must be citizens of Trollsbane, as you well know. Indeed, over half of your membership is on the citizen list of Trollsbane.
But to say that they are truly citizens of Trollsbane would be a farce, for they live elsewhere, as you have already mentioned. On top of the vote that your guild gets, the individual members of your guild get to vote for the public chairs.
The question is, can the individual members of your guild honestly say that they are representative of regular members of the public who live within the walls of Trollsbane? They may, for one time or another, think like someone who lives within the city walls. They may vote for the same people that the citizens who live within the city walls vote for. They may even stay here, within the city walls, for a time during the day before retiring to their homes in Greenbriar, but at the end of the day, they are not representative of the people within the city walls. They are representative of the people who live on a western island that does not even share the same weather conditions on a single day, let alone political situations!
I apologize if I seem harsh, but I feel that this alone should disqualify the votes of the people of Greenbriar. They cannot honestly say that they have the interests of Trollsbane in their hearts while it is evident that they call Greenbriar their home.

Let's take a gander then shall we, once Greenbriar, The Roses and Silverbrand removed their various representatives, what do we have left?
The Druids of the Forest, another Guild living outside of Troll's Bane, on Eldorain soil.
Eldamar, a guild for all intents and purposes dead, with their leader living in Northerot.
The Magic Academy, another defunct guild.
The Rangers, another half dead guild. True I've been invited to chair it, but with no members, I don't see the point.
The Silverstar Mechants, a fine and active guild, but hardly with the most members...(buy from Caranthir!)
You see, Moskher, without the remaining "foreign nation's" input, only the independant Councillors would remain, hardly representing the views of the majority of the Halfling and Dwarf populations.

Why would a people who live outside of Trollsbane be aloud to be in the city council, when they don't even live here?! Sure they go to Trollsbane to trade and whatnot, but there is no rule against them doing so anyway. What is the point of foreign entities controlling Trollsbane besides for personal gain? There isn't one. Thanks for enlightening everyone to that fact Brendan.
Why don't Trollsbane Councilers have a say in what goes on in Greenbriar? This system is out of line and needs to be reformed.

Exactly. On top of this, new guilds will rise through the vacuum of power. Possibley it is time for fresh blood in the chairs of Lyrenzia. As you even state, many of the guilds in the council are now defunct. That alone should disqualify them. How is it that a non-existant guild can qualify for position within Lyrenzia? The rules state that a guild must have five members to be on the Lyrenzia council, after all.
Speaking of which, how can we know that the Grey Light indeed has at least half it's members as citizens of Trollsbane when the High Circle and others within the guild are secret? Do I smell favoritism?
If anything, we find ourselves in decline here on the island. There are few active guilds. War has broken out. Organizations are dying off or leaving the island entirely, but this is nothing permanent. It, like so many other things, shall pass. Things will change for the better. New brotherhoods will emerge and life will resume as normal.
Do I not recall the Seekers wanting to join the council? What happened with that? Athian is definately a man of honor. I have nothing bad to say about the Seekers.
Neither do I have anything bad to say about the Evergreen Halflings, but I still do believe that their place is representing their own village and not another.
I apologize, Brendan. I suppose we will have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.
