The Crispy Tavern

Post by Kasume »

A parchment is pinned to the wall. It is wet and darkened with a charcoal black to it. It reads...

I fear that when I came back from my usual skeleton hunt today I found the tavern had been lit on fire! Obviously I started yelling for help. No one came. I ran to the shop and yelled at the people there. There were two elves that came along.

I grabbed a bucket and ran for the river to put out some flames, but the flames were too hot to put out with just a bucket. Furiel got the idea to run in and smash the wine barrel. Although, the fires outside would stay lit, we would be able to kill the source of fire. It worked too. Although, it left the entire Tavern a mess! We picked up what ashes we could and stood the fallen chairs and burnt tables up. It's still quite messy in there and needs some cleaning up. Yet my question is...

Who could have done such a horrible thing!?

Kasume comes running down the street shouting: "Tavern is on fire!" Together with my fellow elf we run infront of the tavern. Flames and smoke roar out of windows and dozens of sparks lit smaller fires outside.
I shout:" is anyone inside??", and dare a quick look inside, but fortunately the tavern is empty. The heat grows intolerable and Im forced to run out.

We are thinking how to save the building. Kasume runs to get water in his bucket and I get an idea. I take my woodcutters axe from my belt and cover my face with my cloak. Then I run in to the flames and smoke. I hit the wine barrel with my axe and wine splashes like tidal wave over the tavern. My friend comes to aid me while Kasume takes care of the fires outside. Finally only smoke and smell of burning wood remains. Tavern is a mess but it can be still repaired (but no one can save the spilled wine). We wonder for a while who could have done this, but in vain.

As exhaustion comes and i walk the street to buy new clothes, I hear sounds of fighting coming from the east gate. The town is on fire, but the war goes on. What a waste.
