A few things- First, I find it bothersome that when someone comes online,
I get it floating over my head. Just telling me in the text box is sufficient.
Second- I wish I knew the bonus' to item types. Like a short sword vs. a
longsword, and when I attempt to sell, I would like to see beforehand how
much it is worth.
Third- While selling, I think something else would be better. Perhaps a pop up
window with item amount, and sale price. I just accidentally bought 34 peices
of string because I still had the numbers on 34, and I can't sell them.
Something easier would be highly preferred.
Just a thought - I'm new, but i know what's annoying

No, I just feel interface should be easier to use.
1- the announcements do nothing about "identifying friends and enemies"
2- It's nice to know the effect of the weapon. Like, comparing a mace to a
dagger- while they are different weapons, I'd still like to know which gives the
best bonus to attack.
3- Or, it could me made easier to use...

well i do like the idea of the npc saying how much each item will sell for BEFORE you try and sell it! very good idea..... it could be because of 'word of mouth' or something that everyone knows the new sale prices. they dont have to take place immediatley, maybe at an exponential relationship.....i have no idea how to program computers but i know aout math. Maybe a certain number could learn from the NPC, and from them the exponentioan curve could start. I really should leave now, my arm is bleeding, i thought a knife wouldnt hurt it but oh yeah it did.

Well, a medieval smith was able to compare weapons due to their weight, balance, hardness, sharpness and quality. Butover all, a warrior has to test it himself to know what weapon he likes the most.
A weak person, for example, would do less damage with a heavy mace, but more with a sharp shortsword or a staff. A less agile but stronger guy would of course take the hammer or a heavy mace.
So you COULD compare weapons of the same type. And you COULD guess what weapon you prefer, and how well you can handle them.
You are NOT able to say "Whee, this sword gives me an attack bonus of 3 and makes plus six in slashing weapons damage"... That's definitely NOT how you would describe it in reality. You COULD compare two weapons, and if you are experienced, you could say "This mace does more crushing damage than the shortsword. But the shortsword is quite sharp and thin, so it would make more "puncturing" damage, if i can place a good hit. The sword is better balanced than the mace too, so hitting would be easier, and of course it has less weight, so it does few crushing damage but it is fast when i need speed..."
THAT's the way how you could compare weapons. NOT like "This gives me a xxx bonus in". Nonsense. And since the weapon depends on the wearer talent too, some people do more damage with a shortsword than with a heavy troll club.

Yea, I read the FAQ after I posted this. Oh well. Still, knowing prices before I sell
would be nice. And not having to see that bubble over my head everytime someone
logs on and off would be nice as well. I was on yesterday, I believe, and Twe logged
on and off about 10 times in 2 minutes. XXXX says: Twe has just entered Illarion
XXXX says: Twe has just left Illarion:( Again and again. I don't need to know this.
Besides, how does this relate to roleplay? If I can't speak to distant people, I shouldn't
know if they are there or not.

maybe able to croll the text box?
or make another one for the log info?
or both?

Or we could have a command line
#who- shows in a pop up screen who is on at any given time
that you want to know
Having the flash of someone logging on or off doesn't tell me who's on, only
who's just arrived or left.
