Not too pleased

Post by Arkadia Misella »

I had another one of my characters on today...and myself and halfling were harrasssing an Elf who shoved me. When I shoved him back I said I shoved him to the ground and he accused me of "Forced Roleplay". Now, it wasnt like I said I pulled a dagger out and jabbed him in the eye, just pushed him to the ground. Then afterwards myself and the hlafling proceeded to kick him. Alot. Im saying like we kicked him about 50 times. The Halfling also kicked the Elf in the genitals about 5 times and the Elf just stood there talking to use like nothing was happeneing. I feel this was very very poor roleplay. Then after a long kicking fest the Elf finally attacked the Halfling and we both attacked him. After a battle that seemed like forever he logged off. Okay, now that I vented...What exactly is the ploicy to forced roleplay. What is exactly too far?
Oh..and by the way...I am going to write an email to violations with his number.
But seriously....crap like this just makes me want to get on ark or another character of mine that I know could kill him easily, and run over there and dice him up. Now, I wont because that is trading character knowledge between the two and taking my ooc anger out on a player in game, which is bad....but it seems like there are way too many people accusing others of bad things but continously breaking the rules themselves. Oh, and all you people who are about to say I bad rp by going right abck into town after I get out of jail...I cannot help that as the spawn point for getting out of jail is the library.

I feel anything that technically you can do is not force rping. Such as pushing attacking, but you must have a good rp reason. When using the #me function....remember to give time and a chance for them to say such move out of the way of the kick....or however. If they are good rper then they will most likely take soem damage or reaction to kicks.

She is right, The elf didnt even react to what we were doing, nothing at all. And then after he attacked me and we started to get into it he logged off. Now he could have been frozen or booted (Happens to me every so often). And it thats true then he can say it here. But the bad roleplay was terrible. At least when he tried to punch me my character dodged it.

I think forced rp is any major physical damage like cutting off a thumb or something like that. But if a player is not at all recognizing an #me command that is just bad

You cant tell me he dodged all those commands about kicking....bottom line....if you want to dodge something...you shoiuld say something....and ...if you are really wanting to kick someone you are probably going to succeed...try it sometime..tell your friend to dodge you kicking them....yeah...good luck...especially one person on each side of you...then kick them fifty time and see if they are still standing

You could accually attack him once when you kicked him, I think we all know kicking will do damage. Using a weapon while doing this would be bad roleplay though, because you are using unarmed means of hurting him. You'll probobly get a reaction out of him then. People don't like being treated inferior, this is where players take this game too seriously someitmes and just refuse to roleplay because they don't like the conditions.

I think he didnt want to because he felt we were....he asked ooc how long we both had been playing....i dunno...for some reason I feel I may have come across this Elf before and had problems with him, ooc problems that is...
and no I wont just attack because they assume that it is a weapon....and we were not trying to kick him to hurt him really..just get a reaction...but after so many kicks..he would have been hurt...

Yea at times you just have to do certain things to get a bit of roleplaying going. But when the person your trying to roleplay with doesnt show any reaction at all it kinds of defeats the purpose.

A correct, totally force-free form of action would be "#me charges and tries to shove the man to the ground".

To absolutely ignore all the pretty getting beaten up - by TWO persons - is VBRP (Very Bad Role Playing).

You have frankly no room to talk.

1) You logged when Ezor paralyzed you and we came up to you to finish you off. (than claim you had to restart the program - THUS NOT LOGGING IN WITHIN A 10 MINUTE TIME FRAME - Love the irony in that eh?)
2) You take the fact that my character "in game" kills your character means I hate you in some way and I am breaking a rule.
3) You hide behind library walls to hide your F12 and hide your charater from being seen <---Your favourite apparently.
4) You get away from people's grasp and from being surrounded half the time WITHOUT #me.
5) You refuse to #i me even though my character knows your character's name.

Frankly, you just have no room to talk Dair...
Another point to bring up, how does a puny small tiny little halfling KICK an elves gonads? For god's sakes the halfling has to fall over to reach his foot that high. I can see kicking his legs, but elves are the tallest race in the game. Makes sense for a halfling not able to kick the elf's gonads. Maybe the elf had magical gonads?

3) Library walls are shadows...F12 should not be used to see hiding chars anyway. neither should the F11

4)Some people don't give you time to rp and break away and kill you.

I agree with the statement 4, but other must rp to have a succesful event.

well...the time zones that are merged might as well insist that it is eternal daylight then. When in shadows you can't see who is near you either...so it is fair I believe

1. I did have to restart and then I had to restart again, my mouse stopped working.
2. I take the fact that your character has killed me once then continues to attack my character a breaking of the rules
3. The walls are a game implemented event, you said yourself you use f12 and I have hidden in bushes and things and your character comes straight to me because of f12.
4. I got away because two of the people that had grabbed me moved away and I took advantage of it.
5. You remeber my number well enough so dont complain.

Also I said I punched him in the groin. Quite diffrent than from a kick.

no the walls aren't shadows. Some chars could stand in a direct line of sight with you, they could stand beside you and wouldn't see you, if you hide in the "Shadow" of a wall! Do you think this is a game feature? I think its a technically problem, and its abused by some players.

1) No excuses, you logged out when going to die. Very poor RP.
2) My character personally has only killed you once. Many of Kasume's friends have killed you countless times because Dair is a simple criminal. Don't whine when your criminal gets killed a lot.
3) What Fedaykin said.
4) No one grabbed you. Four people surounded you and you just used the push command to move yourself out. Bad RP from the beginning.
5) Why is it such a big deal? Hit three buttons and I stop whining about it, ok?

Arkadia said you "kicked" the elf. Never once said yourself or to say that you "punched."

Yeah, I can vouch for this. I bugged him for a long time to give me a #i. He refused, saying he wants to keep anonymity. I explained again that there's no way he can be anonymous and have me knowing exactly what he looks like and his name at the same time. He still refuses. I think he's just using it as a way to keep his character from getting killed even though there are writs out for his head. It's cheap roleplaying, Dair, and I told you as much there and then.

If you stand behind a tree or on a thicket, you are hiding...and if there are trees like this:

I
000000000000000000000
0000 00 00 0000 0000 0 0
000 0000m000000 00 0 0
0000000000000000000000

I-looker
0-trees
m=hider

Even though you cacn see him on the screen your char cannot see him. If you stand behind a char he won't turn around right away if you are silent a la the me function.

Keikan Hiru kicks Dair Essel in the face. - "Forced Roleplay", I should get a warning.

Keikan Hiru swings his leg at Dair Essel, trying to hit him. - Fine, leaves room for the counterpart to either accept a hit or make attempts to evade.

"Shadows":
There are none, nowhere.
Unless we can display them equal for everyone.

"Buldingshadows":
How can you claim to hide under a vertical wall when someone is standing next to you?
These 'Shadows' result from a weakness in the client and the perspective, which does not remove higher levels from your screen when they block your view.

Play nice and fair, and everything is fine.

So I couldnt just walk up and slap someone? That seems silly..then why do we have a fighting system? If I wouldn't be able to slap or kick someone I surely would not be able to hit them with a sword.
When I eat an apple now, should I say "#me attempts to eat the apple" and hope the apple rp's decently and says "#me gets eaten" as apposed to "#me dodges with little effort"

You know what I mean, no need to play dumb.

Since a apple is an object, and cannot respond to your play as a fellow player you are allowed to "force him" to be eaten by you.

You can walk to everyone and TRY to slap him.

When it is something so little like a kick or slap, it shouldnt matter....granted some people would not approve, but that is the way it is. People do not enjoy getting slapped, hit, or kicked....Too many people...and you know this to be true, would automatically make you miss
Like if there is a character with their back to me and I say I throw an apple...Yeah, Im going to say I hit them...Why? Because too many people say they step to side when I do it the other way...I mean, come on...their backs are to me. Now if they are looking at me..Yes I give them a chance as they can see it coming and I am sure it wouldnt be too hard to dodge that. I was stadning in front of an Orc and pointed to the sky...he looked up and at that time I kicked him in the groin...Why? because he was not ready and looking straight up....now if he were looking at me, yes I would probably give him a chance.

Well, if you walk up to somone and attack them, you arent trying, you ARE attacking them.... and that is not forced roleplay. So if you attack somone, that would make that forced role play, would it not?

Thinks about how many times in game people ahve thrown stuff, hit, pushed, slapped, kicked, and grabbed her arms, dragged her out of town, and the such and thinks how many times people would be complaining if she randomly said ((hey...no fair..that is forced roleplay))

I am sorry Arkadia, that Players dont have ther personal GameMaster who can check everytime the Attributes/Skills of the involved characters and give the ultimate result of an action.

When using a '#me' you are willingly outside the game-mechanics of Illarion, which puts great responsibilty on your shoulders as player.
This means that you cannot simply state ultimate happenings without giving the other player a chance to avoid something harmful to his character.

If you want to use the mathematical mechanics of the game, inform the other part that you are about to attack him, and let our server look at it neutraly.
