Well firstly I'm sorry if this has already been proposed......
I think maybe people who apply for an account should be able to play illarion offline while they wait for their account.
The reasons i think this could be useful are that newbies, will learn the basic game interface before they go into the game. That hopefully means less OOC talk about how the game works (back in 2001 when i last played i spent alot of time teaching newbies how the game works!).
Another advantage i think is that people will not be as impatient to get into the game, and might reduce all teh "when will be i accepted" questions which are posed to the admins. Furthermore people who might get fed up and leave the game, will peobably be prepared to wait longer if they can have a go offline.
The only thing that i can see speaking against this at the moment is that it might encourage powergaming, because there are no other players around when offline.
There might also be some technical problems?!?

If newbies know the game contorls and the basics then they dont have to ask how to play (which in my experience happens alot!)Val De Gausse wrote:making it less how? By getting use to not RPing in illarion client?less OOC talk
I said that that would be a downside myself!!!!Val De Gausse wrote:By getting use to not RPing in illarion client?
I dont mean that people could play their online character offline, but just a character (same name or what ever does not matter!). That way they'll get to know the game and will have something to do while they wait.Gro'bul wrote:If there was an Illrion offline client, you would certainly not be able to use your online character offline. I have proposed this before, they said no because of server issues and whatnot.
Another thought that jsut popped into my head is that maybe if people get bored of playing the game offline (theres not much to do alone really) than maybe people would be more willing to RP and interact with others when they start playing online.
Anyway it sounds like its a no because of technical issues.
