Skill diminish - Why?

Post by DaveyCrocket »

Why should the skills diminish at all? I would think it's like riding a bicycle,
you never forget, even though you haven't done it for awhile.

I'll admit, an older person may not be able to fight as well as a younger one.
But it's not because they forgot how. It's just that their strength has diminished,
not the skill itself.

may I suggest a more "punishable and real life like" way of the death system?  I find it rather stupid that a person may resuract after dying and simply lose some skills.  Maybe we should make it so if you don't make it to the cross in a certain amount of time, your char REALLY dies...  I don't think alot of ppl would like this idea, but there are way too many stupid pk's who just hang around and spaz after they get killed by a group who all hates em too much...

Dying forever, when you don't reach the cross in time would mean:
PKs can kill you, trap your ghost (surround it, put chests around it ...), and you are dead forever, moste likely for no reason (random PK).

all this exm. about riding something, about typing...but we talking about skills which need everyday training!... sword skills is needed to train everyday in RL! RL warrior was training 6 hourse per day to be the best! skills like blacksmith and stuff! same here... if u dont smith for a year and after u try again u will be much worse then u were! face it!  i think skill system is right (maybe a lil fast but...)

just dont give stupid exmples about skills which is in human DNA! to be GM u must train train and train... !!

Skull likes Skill system

I think the skill system is great!like bror sais, you loose skills one time and not while you are walking to the cross! He said you don't loose skills a second time by being the same ghost,if you don't play as a ghost!

You could prevent the surrounded by chest thing by allowing ghosts to walk through objects. However there would still be a problem with a group of people killing somone and surrounding them.  I guess it is up to the programmers since they make the decisions and changes

About the death thing.

How about when you die you drop all items you are carrying.
They will remain there until you resurect and come back for them.
Or until someone else (probably your killer) picks them up.

This would encourage people to use the boxes and only carry what
is necessary.

The "prize" for killing people would encourage people to go killing, which is not the point of the game and not what we want.

Yeah but if ppl does drop stuff after death gold will get his true cost! Like when somebody died he lost his sword and to get new he going to smith and buy one... so smith can get money  not just selling stuff to lizard but to sell it to players! people can open shops like this and stuff :-) Prize on swords and armor will go up but gold cost will go up either :-)
