Jobs

Post by Nilo »

Recently, i was thinking about how cool it would be to have jobs. Though, it would take a good deal of work to make it happen mind you. I was thinking... You talk to eliza. (you also have a skill under other skills labeled "job") and depending upon how good you are at jobs (you get the skill by completing the jobs...) then you can get better jobs.

I was thinking something like.. You tal to eliza, and you get the thing at the bottom left like you would in carpentry or antyhing. You might see a picture of logs there, and a picture of iron there. If you click it once (not with shift) to see what it is.. it might say "50 logs" or something like that. If you accept (with the shift key) then you go get 50 logs and bring them back to her.

Logs is just an example. you could make it harder, by using things you have to make, such as lutes or something.

The whole purpose of the job, along with getting a variety of different skills, You get paid a good deal too. Such as, instead of selling 25 staffs for 2 gold each, you might sell them for 10 gold each for completing that job.

Just another thought...

Hey that remembers me to the game "shadowrun" ,but i think beeing a running boy is only good for some chars or would your char e.g. as a mage or something like that fishing or lumberjacking. This can be usefull for craftmans ,but i think there must be only a few jobs or there will be chars that abuse this.

I disagree. You say people will abuse it... Im not so sure about that. Even so, its not like there anything in Illarion that isn't abused.. I mean, no, we dont want more abusiveness, but just from doing this, i dont thinkt here would be much.

I dont think you should limit the jobs to few, because it would be great to become a grandmaster at "jobs" then you would have to do stuff like get 100 smargd gems or something, and get 12 gold each for all of them... that would be so nice!

No, I dont think we should limit the jobs.

Why would you need a job to bring Eliza 100 Smargd? She already buys them, and for less than 12 gold. Aside from that, Galim's been looking for people to sell him gems for a while now, but everyone sells them to Eliza instead. Eliza's already been a bit of a blight to RP economy. I don't think she should all of a sudden buy more things.

If this is put into the game, it should definately be limited.

P.S. I don't think he was saying that it should be limited to certain people, but, rather, that the amount of jobs she offers in a certain amount of time would be limited, so that only those that are quick on their feet would get them.

Okay, now thats starting to sound liek neopets...AGH!

No, I'm saying you have skill in it, depending upon what your skill is in that you can get better jobs.

I dont think it would hurt the rp economy, as there are not that often a great deal of people on, and I end up selling them to Eliza because noone wants to buy them.

p.s. Galim wanting to buy smargd is IC not OOC like this forum is...

Your original idea sounded like Neopets to me. Eliza supplying you with jobs where she pays you more than she already pays you for items, for nothing but out of the kindness of her heart, makes her sound like one of those magical faeries.

Don't patronize me. I know this. It was an example of why this idea is weak. There are people willing to buy those items that are in game quite enough. Aside from that, Eliza already buys those items. Why you would gain skill in "jobs" for mining or woodcutting when there's already skills for those, I have no clue.

If you need a reason to build more skills, it's you, not I who has a difficulty telling the difference between IC and OOC.

well, ya two are false. galim want to buy RAW gems ;).

By the side. This game have no "jobs" or "quests" given from npc's by good reason. the player should arrange that. not any npc's. this game should be build up completly without npc's, eliza and the human are the minimum. because without them illa wouldn't work. well, not yet ^^.

I don't know about you...but With Tailoring and fishing (when Eliza bought them, which I think she still should) I would act like Eliza placed an order. When Tailoring I would say "Eliza orders ??? pairs of green pants weekly" This , aside from roleplay, gave me a "job" Rather than make it at random intervals or sell tehm, really act like eliza IS placeing an order and you'll earn enough money. I don't really use Eliza much anymore though.
