Mining - new rules for a better mining
I've an idea for better mining rules. Why can't the Character decide, what he want mining. I think as soon as the Char reach a good level in mining he should say what he want. Iron and cole could have a 75-95% chance to get it, and 5% to get the other. Gems a 50-75% chance and 10% to get another and gold have a 25-50% chance without chance to get other things. So it can't happen, that a char got thousands and thousands of cole and iron before he can begin learning goldsmithing. The chances are an example. They should be lower I think, but the correct numbers should only be known by the programmers.

well... i like it, kind of... but gems should be harder to get...
there should be a 0,00001 - 0,0000001% chance to get a gem
or something... its too easy...
and this would be good for the economy...
but the stones should have different colors...
like... if there is a long white stripe of stone, theres possible to find silver, there
just like in real life...

The idea would make it easier for players, but it isn't really logical. When you are mining, you are simply uncovering some rocks and taking what you find underneath so why should you be able to choose what you find? If you wanted to mine for a particular thing you would have to go to a particular mine like coal mine, gold mine, etc. But we don't have those and even if we did, things like gold mine would still only give gold nuggets and a low rate and give you rocks and dirt at a high rate because it wouldn't make sense to find gold nuggets so easily.
"and maybe its even more realistic, because the things one can mine are often found in bigger amounts. "
Everytime you stick your shovel into the ground, you get either a piece of gold, gem, or metal, that's a lot already compared to real life don't you think?

But if I found gold, I search the vein. And then I found more gold. Thats realistic.
Ive said, that the chances are an example. Forgot the numbers and think about the idea. At the moment, I searching gold. Ive found thousands of iron and cole, but only 50 gold nuggets. If I lay the cole and iron out of the ground, others can easy learn blacksmithing. Near each newbie will learn blacksmithing. Is this the right way? I think no. Why must each Char learn blacksmith? The reason is that the professional blacksmith cant sell their products. The other way is, that gold can be found in the river too. And in the river only gold and few gems. All with a low chance.

yes... but theres too easy to find stuff... i find coal and iron every time... and gems, i find alot of them... but i see rugosch' point to find 10 gold you have to dig up
99992993873 coal and iron and i dont think gold miners in real care to dig up the coal and iron even if they bump into it

i suppose as time will come
there will mines for special ores to come.
but right now thats a rather minor problem.
the map is still too small, it would improve trading heavily,
if different gems are found in far distant places, etc.
but we will see.

Yes, i would like ifferent mines : Coal mines, Copper mines, Tin mines, Iron mines, Silver mines, Gold mines, crystal mines (where one can fin much cheap crystals and fewer expensive things like diamons an stuff).
=)
If those are located in different places - Trade will be great !

how about being able to find squares with more of a certain thing(better odds of getting it) when you get to be a good miner i don't think it should be if you are a master you should be able to get gold 100% of the time, but if you could inspect a square of ground and determine what you would be most likely to get from it.
