gates/bells

Post by Gurik Elvenstar »

ok i have a few ideas.

what if the sound of a bell rang if the horde was coming the closer you come to town the louder the bell rings if you walk away from the town the bell gets lighter

and what if there where gates when the horde comes. there would be a lever that someone pulls to shut the gates.

Yeah that will be nice, maybe in certain time a group of Demon would attack trollsbane "if they pass the gurad of northerot",there motives is trying to take a sacred item that is put somewhere around trollsbane, and when they get the item"due to lack of guarding",they will transform into a godlike demon..the only problem is there aren't many people willing to guard trollsbane all day

You didn't quite specify if someone would ring the bell or automatic. I think someone should have to ring the bell, it should not just go off by itself.

The problem with gates is the question who has the key to it. If there are only few people who have a key, there will be problems in going in and out and massive bickering posts on the forums why this one has a key and I not and why noone with a key is available ...
if nearly everyone has a key to the gates, they are useless.
Until now, TB is the starting town for all new players. So they need to go out at a certain point of playing.
With Silverbrand it is easier, because there only people come in which have a key and there life no people without key.
With a bell, it is nearly the same. The question who can use it and the question of misuse.

It's a great idea, IF we can trust the rp of everyone (which most of the people we can) but then even witht that theres the problem that Aragon

In game, heavey fines should be placed on those who misuse the bell. Because it is kinda bad rp if it just automatically knows to go off when someone comes to attack.

But aren't there always "town guards", people who you can't see but are still there? Everyone always roleplays the town as being bustling, why can't we always roleplay things like that? It could be automatic because a town guard would see the beasts when they get near.
