Hi
These are just some suggestions that came to my mind.
How about some items with special powers?
I mean, shouldn´t there be some reward for killing a demon (just a diamond and a doubleaxe is bit small)?
If you intend to create quests, then there should be some items with unique powers, or even cursed things.
But even without quests there should be magic weapons, armor or unique rings.
And how about summoning spells?
A wizard or conjuror should be able to summon monsters or demons (that should be no problem technically). After all, this would produce some interesting figures among the players.
Bye

I think there should be more magic weapons, like ones that attack and also cast spells. You could place them in places that they were hard to find. For example you could place a water sword, that casts Kel hept, in a single pool somewhere in the games where you have to fish it out after a whole bunch of tries. Maybe a axe with a earth spell out of digging for herbs, a fire sword( one that casts spells) while mining. Also maybe you should make it possible to enchant weapons, like arrows that have a fire/ice/lightning attribute that cast spells, because arrows/bolts are useless against fighters with even a low parry.
This could also go for armor, a fire suit could make fire spells and fields useless against them.

Why do you always talk of weapons and armor ? Sounds pretty like Diablo to me...
We don't need no hack'n slay. That's another kind of game. This here is RPG. Magic stuff may perhaps be crafted later on, but with great skill i guess. For now, we have the firesword. I guess it does a little more damage then the normal ones, hehe...

I agree with Damien
However also instead of magical weapons, how about a very good wepaon better than crafted... A sword of the gods so to say. The person who finds it has an edge over others. If you die it disappears or falls to the ground to be claimed by another. Trick is if it gets into the hands of good or evil. thats a bit of roleplay and storyline wouldn't you think? I could thing of a whole book on just that.
Don't do armor the same it would make someone practically invincable but perhaps also very unique, usefor or rare items. Something worth alot of value in trade, or a prize to be boasted of. Even if it's plate armor, but very ornate with gems and such so that when inventory you see it. Sorry Martin hehe.
Well all for now

Magic items. Hmm, they should be unique and have a name.
Anyone remembers the dagger frodo had in Lord of the Rings? I think it started to glow when a evil creature was near him. That's an interesting ability, more interesting than just better fighting skills.

Yeah, exactly ! Spells with nice effects, and not too strong for battles. Perhaps a very strong sword, magic, that heals one when one strikes a beast, but if a person FIRST attacks another player without beeing hit or spell-attacked from him it heals the other and does damage to you when you hit with it...
Such would be a sword of righteousness...

Perhaps all magical items should be unique. The strength of a sword would be linked to the smith's ability (I don't know if they already are or not), and be given his name. For example, an Erdrick Sword would be worth more than a Sword of Novus, and do more damage, last longer, etc.

Hi
Sorry, Damien, I didn´t mean just weapons and armor but ALSO. What I mean are UNIQUE properties for special items, and that means ALL kinds of things.
A ring with an embedded spell would be nice, or a crown that translates languages. The possibilities are endless.
Also, there should be spells that enhance your defenses against physical attacks - and that leads to magic armor.
RPG needs a bit of flavour, and magic items add a bit to the game.
I never played Diablo ´cause of the one-mindedness. Only combat is boring! But it´s a part of fantasy worlds.
Think of Stormbringer, Elrics Runesword. Wouldn´t it be good to add such things to Illarion? Unique players need unique items. But they should be very hard to obtain, and harder to keep.
