Attribute stuff - char generation

Post by Damien »

There are some attributes in the generation that are not explained. If they do not count for something, can they be taken out of it ? Or, may be explained what they do at all ? I fear i did some major misplanning, hope not on both chars *g* and want to know better the next time.

This is an excerpt of the manual (as been in it for a long time)

Constitution: The higher your constitution is the less damage you will take from a blow.

Strength: How much damage will you inflict in a fight.

Dexterity: Your chance of hitting a target and dodge another ones hit.

Agility: How fast you will move and dodge your enemys blows.

Intelligence: The higher your intelligence is the less mana you will waste on spells.

Other Abilities: Currently unused, but could be used any day.

Yes, be sure i read that ! i studied it closely before posting this thread. :)
But what will the others be used for ? And, what about a possibility to match one's attributes later on, when new ones come in use ? For example i myself seem to have wasted some points there, and all elves have at least 5 points in Essence and 4 in Willpower ( that goes down from the overall thing ). Some other races have too, but the most have more free choosable points, and can put up more now relevant things.
hehe my sec char for example has much essence... much will... and feeew strength and const. I do not think it is totally wasted, i do hope it will come in handy later - and become useful for his char class. So perhaps there can be hints for what things the other Attributes will be used for later ? Would be great.
At least i know it will be in the final version :)

( hi hi hi )

Damien I know what you mean.

On one of my characters

I had put all of my points into magic type things and even the things that aren't used yet that I thought may help

I put few const, no strength dex or agility "which is why even at a high skill I still die alot." But my magic ability is incrediable and Hopefully essence and willpower can be used along with a few other goodies ;)

You see.. As a ArchMage I am well with magic, but since I either have to be on other side of water, or have another block the monsters I am useless in combat. Hopefully something can be done.. something.

AND I would hope magic could become a bit more effective, though I know it would be bad with the PK's also though would be easier to kill pk's and for those of us who aren't good at melee have a chance. Secondly what use is magic if it runs out and you have dump all the spells you could into the mob and it still lives?

Hopefully bror see's this!

Yes, #me hopes that too :)
And, it doesn't matter if you put points in these unused things, i did too, and elves must have minimum five points in Essence... well, i put more in, since it's most likely the common elf has more than 5... hehe, and elves are the race that have the fewest attrib points to distribute freely...*g*

well

as far as i know the use of essence is/will be magic resistance or the like, maybe its also helpfull for priests or with the social-standing thing

as for willpower:
the sense behind it, is:
to make your spells stronger (even though it may not yet be implemented)
and to make you more resistant against mindaffecting spells.

all this i guess will be implemented in good time.

anyway, you want to roleplay, and the charakter should be a logical one.
so  a magician with a great amount of strengh etc. would'nt realy fit, as would'nt a warrior with superior magic skills.

and for a mage fighting alone against monsters....

first, all is easier in cooperation, and sooner or later there may come spells that will enable you to fight a bit better, or less endangered.

but all in good time.
