this just means your internet is too slow, running filesharing programs slows you down tremendously.

Did you minimize your client before this? The server doesn´t like this.

Have a look at this, if you use a nVidia GeForce.

I think this also happens when you put in too many commands, it thinks it's a macro or something.

Ok first, go here C:\Program Files\DirectX\Setup, and run DxDiag. if you can't find it there trying oepning the start menu, clicking run then typing in dxdiag.exe. That will let you see your video card, but it doesn't sound like a video card problem if it worked before but started this now.

Can you think of things you changed with your computer right when this started happening again?

Secondly, are you on a dial-up modem or cable, highspeed, dsl ect.?

Thirdly, make sure there is nothing using the internet running in the background, and if you've made sure of that then try closing all background programs (except tiny ones that windoes uses or your graphics card prog ect as they shouldn't be doing anything). Things like kazaa, any download managers, make sure nothing's downloading.

Fourthly, are you on a lan network? Like is any other computer sharing your internet connection with you? If there is make sure they're not using the internet at all.

Fifthly, if you're using a dial-up modem see what speed it's connected at. (Double click on the little internet connection icon at the bottom right)

Sixtly, go to websites and see if it's surfing abnormally slow, that way you can see if it's a your computer's hardware or the way you have it set up, or if it is just in fact a plain, slow internet connection.

Try doing those.

As far as I know, no. It may not cost money.

while I was using norton works, namely the norton firewall I had BIG TIME problems playing illarion. like you, it would take max. of 2 minutes until i was kicked out with the message that my network was running too slow.

i even tried not to move at all... staying in one spot, not saying one single word, not doing anything but standing there... it was always the same.

i got rid of the firewall and now everything is running fine again, although i have to mention that... since i am back in illarion (i have not played for around 3 months) i happen to have major lags... but have found out, that i was not the only one that was suffering from it.

what you can do, if you run win9x or winxp... (don't know if it works with the me edition and i know that it is not working with the 2000 edition)
use the command thing when you click on the start button and type the following: msconfig
with this command you can check what programmes windows is starting, when you turn on your pc. uncheck any programmes that could, in your opinion be somewhat linked to the internet.
another thing you can to is to hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and check what programmes/processes are running currently in the background.

maybe you will be able to find some answer there.
concerning processes...
write down all processes that are running on a piece of paper and then start to quit them one by one (this is the way you will do it, if you do not know what process is needed by windows itself and what process was started by some random programme that is installed on your pc). your pc will most likely freeze, if you end a system-process... but you can start your pc from anew and then continue to do so, until you have ended all the processes that are not really necessary for windows.
