Re: Was there a time when Illarion had more than 10 players

Well, please don't base your assessment of skillgain on just three hours. I fully understand those three hours sucked if you compare against other players. But you really need to take your total time into account, also all those hours before when you also learned a lot of skill. From what I read, y...

Re: Was there a time when Illarion had more than 10 players

Can you explain why you feel that this game punishes certain ways of playing? As written above, it is important for us to understand how features are perceived. All numbers don't matter if the players feel differently to what is reality. I understand the staff feels differently and looks at this fr...

Re: Was there a time when Illarion had more than 10 players

When I started playing in 2002, there were typically about 20 players online on average. This was a much different time though, Runescape/Ultima Shards were absurdly popular and this let people know that "mom and pop" games were fun. Compared to today where not many look for small indie multiplayer ...

Re: Open Brainstorming on Player Involvement

Everybody uses the same armor. Same 2-3 weapons. I miss seeing end-game chars walking around with rapiers or just normal ol' daggers. I know that this is harder to balance, but currently if players want to keep their chars competitive they have to jump on the lvl 100 weapons bandwagon. Removing opt...

Re: Current Game Thoughts

In summary: In whatever way you play, you get the same amount of skill over time. So, if you spend ten hours ingame and skill ten minutes or four hours for skilling, in the end, you will get the same skill out of it. The more actions you do over time, the less you learn from each action; but you do...

Re: Current Game Thoughts

I just wanted to note that in my previous post, I'm not saying those specific suggestions are what this game needs, I'm just trying to convey the point that adding in new features whether they are perfect or not, is what this game needs. Not constant rebalancing and reworking existing features. And ...

Re: Current Game Thoughts

This game needs to be a fun game even if their aren't people online. Or even if you can't find other to play with. Goals need to be available at all times. I really want to spend time in my mornings before work leveling up my puncture so that the day I return I can use pole arms. But, my MC is throu...

Re: Fighting

I'd like to note that almost every element of the current state of gear/combat/gems were stepping stones to a bigger picture that has come a halt. Wish I could keep helping but the projects have surpassed my ability to help and I only really have 1-2 hours of free time per day (when lucky) =( That b...

Re: There must be a better way

A comment to foosers proposal. You have to consider that taxes are more than a money sink, they are also largely the primary source of magic gems. Now most all of us that have been around since they were implemented have hit an amount of gems that wont be noticeably upgraded for a few months. But a ...

Re: New Tax System/storage costs

Yikes. What I hear from this.... You CANNOT keep alot items, and MUST sell them into the coins, or you will have no coins. You CANNOT have alot of coins, or your wallet size gets cut in half. This is an overall hinderance to pretty much every player. I'm pretty much a libertarian, so I've never been...

Re: There must be a better way

I see comments here about crafters not wanting/needing gems. Magic gems were never meant to only be put/used in weapons. That was simply their first implementation. It can be expected that this will change. =)

Re: Dual wield fighting system

Thank goodness for that, duel wielding can still be done in a sense ,but the off hand weapon wont be shown (except in your characters equipment ,or we could not 100% on that now) or feature in the fight. Which i might add is far closer to real weapon use ,aside from an off hand parry weapon ,duel w...

Re: Attributes and their use / Attribute und ihr Nutzen

can anything other than 'skilling' be considered as being 'active'...? exept being 'idle' ofcourse.. everything else??? As long as you perform an action, you are considered active for 5 more minutes. An action is anything in game, be it taking 1 step, turning, speaking, #me'ing, crafting, opening a...

Re: Crafting

So why not keep it simple and just make repairs a player function? Make it possible to restore item to full quality and durability by taking some additional resources, and just making it a function of the crafting window of a player crafter? I dunno, this sort of makes it an even worse scenario to ...

Re: Crafting

I have no problem again storing my char's best items in the depot but hope It won't come to that. I can't imagine how a suggestion such as Ufedhin's reverts us back to pre vbu, or causes you hide away items in your depot. Pre vbu, there were 3 major reasons to put away items forever in your depot. ...

Re: Crafting

This is one of the issue's crafter characters have with the system as it is ,your fighter type can run into a dragons maw and die as many times as you wish , and yet never will you need a new suit of armour or new cloak etc ever! This is a very severe issue imo, and is being addressed. And as for J...

Re: Poll: High Score // Umfrage: Bestenlisten

I voted change some but not all I do like gold rush, but I believe it should only show faction high scores and not individual player high scores. Though... If it was done this way, it might have an unintended effect on new player faction choice... But at the same time, showing individual scores + fa...

Under A Crimson Sun (Open RP)

Salathe looks around himself, he is in a ditch as he feels the heat of fire across his face. In front of him, a dead soldier. Beside him, he sees scared teenagers clenching their swords and shields as they press against the earthen wall. He grips his halberd as he stands to look out of his ditch at...

Re: Attributes and their use / Attribute und ihr Nutzen

To Salathe and everyone who wonders: Your lack of skilling success might be reasoned by the new form of "skillcap". It's simple... everytime you learn something the chance to learn something new gets lower. But everytime you do something different (exept idleing) the chance of learning something ne...

Re: Lizard Fishing

One fishing pole can yield almost 1000 fish and fishing poles no longer need to be fixed with thread. Lizards can also still eat raw fish, so once you get a fishing pole (which should be a simple task), you're set for quite some time.
