Nowadays, it is an exponential decay graph - so if today you just started skilling, you skill faster, if you've skilled a lot already, you skill slower. It is actually possible to learn after the 'too tired to learn' notification - but it'll be really slow. Thanks for explaining that, I was wonderi...

yes american english does have a standardized form No, it does not. In England there is an official, governing body in the government (or that is government sponsored) which codifies the Queen's English. This process of codification by (essentially) the government produces a standardised form of En...

I *love* Old English, and would gladly waste my time learning it if I had the resources. >:] I thought it might gain some criticism for using it, though. One of my characters comes from a very Anglo-Saxon area of the mainland. Ooh! I'll come have conversations in Old English (Anglo-Saxon) with you!...

Nice proposal to make use of AE vs BE as dialects, but honestly, for me, that is too much a hassle with too little gain. The idea itself is appealing, though. I don't think anything needs to be done, though. Just leave everything as it currently is, and our characters can just assume that an NPC co...

That is no excuswe...we learned english to, so learn german:D I already learned French, Occitan, Anglo-Saxon, Catalan and I'm about to have to tackle Italian. I'm lucky I can still speak English properly; because if I try to speak any one of the other languages I know, you get a very wonderful pidg...

I'm in the same boat as MoonDust, I thought it was for German POs and, since I don't know German, I've been leaving well enough alone. One of my chars stumbled nearby when he got lost in the forest... but he saw the signs and went the other way because he was (at the time) trying to figure out a way...

Re: Hello.. give me a break
Arguably though, not every character is from Gobaith originally. A character from say, the densely populated areas of Gynk, where a lot of people tend to be trouble, or, say, people from distant bustling cities, aren't probably as keen on socializing with strangers. Yeah... I don't have any charact...

I say the Long-term diet system is a problem because it doesn't give any incentive for starting to pay for food unless you are guaranteed that you can keep going. Therein lying my problem (as a poor and relatively new player). I'm not really ever sure when or if I'll be able to afford to buy someth...

Re: Free Food vs. Cooking
The Utopian availability of free foods cooking a moot question. The island is a cornucopia of fruits and fish. Until some balance is created why would anyone bother to obtain cooked foods? One can collect 500 apples in a half hour. And carry them all seemingly without encumbrance. Carpenters will s...

Re: Hello.. give me a break
I am new here, but come on, who say's hello to everyone they pass. In ((RL)) I am the last person you would talk to, so why do I have to talk with every passerby. If I run past you with a *nods* accept it, it is more than you would receive from me in ((RL)). People where I live wave at eachother wh...

I was wandering around Troll's Bane looking for a smokehouse, and I noticed that the oven is called a "Backing Oven." shouldn't it be "Baking Oven"?

Apolgoy--blocking the cemetery
My computer fouled up and I ended up blocking the entrance to the cemetery for a prolonged period of time before I was able to move out of the way. I know that at least two people tried to come by and couldn't.
I want to apologise to anyone who tried to get through.

Perhaps someone should form a cooking guild, and delegate/specialise people in the manner of the old guilds: Certain persons cook Certain persons bake Certain persons gather ingredients Certain persons process ingredients That's how the real world fixed things to cope with such a high demand. I see ...

Basically... Dirt, forest, rocks, dungeon and sand will slow you down. If your character is agile, it won't be much of an issue. Higher agility = Less of a slow down. Wooden floors are the best thing to walk on. Marble and carpet and roof types may effect as well. The higher your agility, the less ...

Protip #3: Monsters prefer moving north or south before they move east or west, you can use that to your advantage at terrain borders for example. How do different terrains affect movement, I'm figuring it out slowly; but it's not a function that I have been able to find documentation on (perhaps m...

Of course (another new player here) then we run (or, rather, jerk) into issues like I kept ending up in last night: we can't run away from monsters that will kill us. I was wandering around the map and ended up walking into a mess of wolves, and was unable to get away before they killed me. The cros...
