EDIT

VERGESST DAS BILD HIER..... ICH SEHE ES JA SELBER EIN.

Wood Paneling should go other way

Die Holzwandbekleidung soll der andere Weg gehen

Netter Gedanke

(Hat online, erbärmlich für Fehler übersetzt).

I was not able to test it, because since 22:00 o'clock my pc allways tells me about "ESACONNREFUSED"or something like that, as soon as i try to logg in.

what exactly do you mean with paneling should go other way?
you meant "horizontal instead of "vertical"??

Looks like a modern fence, maybe if the wood was old it would look better?

Wooden panels go horazontal, like siding on a house.
Looks like the server is frozen.

make it a bit more bold so you can define the colors. It looks like a white glaze is over it

I would make it a bit darker, it s too bright for my taste.

Are they in the correct size and shape/angle?
(I have no clue, so I am asking)

It should be a wall, right? Why is it as thin as a sheet of paper?

New and improved indestructable paper walls!

Well

@Keikan Hiru
I dont know, if it is exactly right size, because i was not able to logg in and check. But I guess its almost right. Iwill check and edit if nesecary.

@ val de gausse
I think it looks a bit too much like drawed and doesnt fit into the old graphics of illarion. The textures are too hard

@ the other ones

i just wanted to hear, if the mainidea is ok. Nothing about the final textures or size or else.

And Please stop posting like:
" It looks like PAPER"
or
" It looks crappy"
That wont help in any way.

If you want to help, tell what shalt be edited or give a hint Or say like Kishra_: "Its too bright. " That helps.

Thank you

Maybe it will get you motivated to spend lots of time before presenting a graphic? About 1 hour editing will save you from some obvious change posts. Save the screenshots off of the mainpage and compare for height. Mayang's free textures are the only 2d textures I prefer to use, because they are made for texturing and extremely high resolution. They have great wood textures, and they have wooden paneling too.

OH! I also highly recommend the gfx FAQ Martin wrote for people submitting Illarion gfx. http://illarion.org/general/us_faq_graphic.php

Well..
1. Point.

How many times shall I tell you, that it was a quick draw, that is not FINISHED. ITS JUST A PRIMARY IDEA!!!

I would take more time, to make the final version. I just wanted to hear what you think about the MAIN IDEA, what shall be done and such.. like the first stuff.
I made the wooden panneling from up to down.
Then ppl told me, i should make from left to right.
I made. I hoped to get more advices like that, but you ppl here on the board are only possible to write things like " Your Grafix are bad. This ones are better " (What is definitly written between the lines.)

2. Point.

I dont steel my textrues from anywhere.
I make them myself. One reason therefor is, that i dont get any problems with the copywrights. second reason is, that i like making images/textures or things like that.
I dont know how you do it. ( Your Grafiks in this Board look pretty cool) But i dislike using things, that werent made for me, to work with them.
Also it is important to make your own stuff, because your skills with it are raising.

Well, the wall needs to be 3d at least.

But it does look nice.
p.s. is that the name for it? VWALLL ?

okay, heres whats wrong with it just so martin doesnt have to tell you, and to save him time...:
Wrong angle
2d???
Bad texture

Posted: Fri Mar 12, 2004 4:30 pm
by Algerond Braunrock
well.. it is 3D
Like i said... I cant get online at the moment. So i cant test the angle, but its no problem, i can put the camera around, to see it from other sides.
Then the angle should not be a problem.
well Whats wrong with the textures. Tell me what you would prefer? or what i shall make different, than it is.
Thank you ....

P.S. Yes. Names for the Walls is VWALLL
and
VWALL

First I wanted to give a harsh comment on that. (As usual, you might say ;) )

However, your last paragraph managed to change my mind. I really like it. First of all, please read the gfx-FAQ. You'll find the size of a tile there. Secondly, don't only use a plane and and put some plain textue on it. Add structure! Use bump maps, use additional objects. The basis of a wall mostly is a cube in the right size, but you can add objects such as stones, windows, ... (in this case, just use single wooden "logs" to build up the wall). Furthermore, look at photographs of real walls and try to find out why they look like like they look like. ;) Try to find a similar color and stucture, use a graphic program in a creative way (paint shop pro, for example).

I would, but unfortunately I don't have a digital camera. Theres nothing more realistic than the real thing, and if you accually read the sites copywrite,

Well maybe there are some Provider, that offer theire pictures without copywrights, but not all.

Well and i dont make my textures with digi cam.. Got none, too.
But you can make quite realicstic textures with a good graficprogramm.

i will upload the updatet texture with walls in about 1 hour.
This time it has right angle and size. and it looks good in game.

Until then.
See ya

@Yoruhm
