I've applied twice now, both times turned down. Since my names fit just fine, I would suspect that it is the reply to the 'story' segment that is the problem.

How the question for the story is asked is very confusing. Basically, it comes across as "You're in this setting, with this set of happenings. What do you do next?" Which is more or less a trick question if you really want to know if a person can roleplay or not. I'm certainly not a bloody writer, here, so it's not like I'm going to respond with a ten page chapter, and the small tidbit of story I have isn't enough to base ANY true roleplaying on, since I don't know the character. I'd need a background, I'd need to know details if I'm going to reply in a roleplaying fasion. Not simply "You're a warrior, this means you bash things. You come across a rabbit, what would you do?"

That's how I see it. Now, if I'm mislead or not understanding the expected format of the reply, please respond. At times I have a problem understanding what someone is asking of me, and this is most likely the case in this instance.

As a note, and for any of you who might doubt my confidence of my ability to roleplay, I would be happy to prove it, if someone wants to humor a little one-on-one in the RP forum, or if a GM wants to test it themself through PM.

I was a fine warrior for the lands of Sirgaurden. I was on a duty watch for ogres in the nearby encampment for General Ree Ra Lu when a small little rabbit passed me by. I was just sitting on a log staring into a fire with my long sword sheathed on the ground. I loved to bash things, oh how I loved to bash things. I was just waiting for an ogre to bash. I was so trilled that I was finally able to be the gaurdsmen for the ogre watch. Although, this funny little rabbit came up to me. I was amazed! It had a fur coat of many colors. Kind of like the stories that old wizards or the crazy folk would talk about. Although this was not my imagination and desire to bash things, no... This was real. As real as it gets. Firstly, it had red, blue, orange, and such and it sparkled with a sense of power. Like it had owned the forest. The rabbit wobbled and hopped (yes wobbled) towards my little campfire. I just stared at it. It sniffed my sword and ran off. I didn't think much of it. Not much a little rabbit could do. Of course, I would yet to regret that. The next morning I had a rampage of orcs attack me. I heard sounds in the misty morning forest and jumped from my sleeping bag. Grabbed my sword and pulled my pants up. Unsheathing the sword I took a mighty blow to a close by orc thwopping its head off...

Yeah well I continued your little "Your a warrior, you bash thing. You see a rabbit" story. Took less than 10 minutes and I had fun doing it. I didn't finish it though.

Frankly, the story starters that I have seen my friends get are quite well and explanatory. And really, they shouldn't give you too much of a starter or else you do no thinking for yourself and how the character would act. If you know nothing about the character, then make the damn character up. Make up everything about him. You don't need any structure for it. Obviously I can see why the GMs have refused you.

You also said something about a one - on - one. This is not a competition to see who is best role player.

ALSO! GMS! Do you have my question submition archived anywhere? I would like to have my reply to the questions. My parents thought it ended up being awesome and my teacher read it to all her classes when she got ahold of it. I want it back for storage for referance and things for Verdaneal.

All you have to do is put yourself into the situation and play it out as that character would. If you were put into the role of a rabbit you wouldnt go on a rampage killing spree (unless you're talking about Monty Python) you would probably go and eat some grass, or run away from foxes.
