Vanishing wand

I just tried to give someone a magic wand....and I dragged and dropped it to where they were standing. Then all of a sudden the wand appeared on the ground momentarily like 10 spaces behind us, then it vanished. Neither myself or the other person have the wand and I feel some glitched just nabbed this expensive little thing. Is there anyway I can get it back???

This might be the reason for what happened:

Every single item has a time to rot when lying somewhere on the ground, after that time it disappears. But: this is not a absolute amount of time, but a number of cycles. A magic wand has a rot cycle of only one period, so if you lay down the wand just a second before the next cycle period ends, it will disappear one second later. If you lay it down just after a period ended, it may lay there for some longer, as long as the period takes.
I am not sure, if this is understandable, but I do not know how to describe it in a better way.

Will this ever be taken out? Because then it would be dangerous to trade large sums of money for large sums of materials.

It was that way all the time, it's nothing new.

It did not lay on the ground, it was in my bare hands...
I put it into my bagpack and it disappeared...

Good to know, so it was something else.

Valuable items, like wands, should decay slower.

why?

Well, if you make rarer items like wands decay in two cycles instead of one, it would be far less likely for things to vanish while trading.

Well, it really sucks to take an item worth 20 ingots pretty much, set it on the ground and then poof....the wand walks away. I was actually yelling at my computer I was so mad, which I am sure was a funny sight to my room mate. It is especially annoying when you had just bought it.

Swearing at your computer is not strange, it's your right as a microsoft user, usually.
