The new fighting systems I think from what I read from some source that I can not recall currently some here on the forums said the new fighting system is based more on what you wear and use as weapons than your skills now. So now a novice swordsmanship person can possible take down a slightly more skilled one. But of course I think the skills still play a role in this too. So that is why he says beware of what you wear to fight certain monsters. I have yet to experiment with this.

Hmm... I'll have to try out the new fighting system. Of course it could mean that Malinne just dies easier than ever.

I tried it out and I don't like it.
First thing that happened to me when I logged on was an orc attacked me. We sat for probably 20 minutes just hitting each other jumping everywhere drinking potions. Damage is way too weak on everything. I think its more dependent on skills now. Plus, it took me like 15 swats to kill flies when it usually takes me 2 with a firesword. That doesn't make any sense.
Maybe rebalancing and fixing? The orc also said that 2h swords and long axes seemed weaker.

I think it should take a few swings to fight flys, you have to hit each on indivdually.

I love the new combat system! It makes so much more sense now. It brings the experienced closer to the novices, and the novices closer to the experienced.
If you're hitting each other while wearing armor, that may explain why it takes so many hits to get your target down.
And so what if it takes effort to kill flies? After all, you're swinging a heavy piece of metal; of course they'll be tough to hit.
I especially like how the skeletons are treated as actual undead warriors now, instead of practice targets. Yet, you can use common sense to slay them as well.
But, I do agree with the two handed weapons. I feel they're a bit unbalanced; they're supposed to be very powerful, but it takes me about double the blows to take down a pig, who doesn't wear any armor or any weapons for that matter.

Fights are indeed longer now, in common. That means, some monsters will take longer to take YOU down too. This way, there seems to be more variation in monster strength.

Hey, the mummies actually have trouble killing Malinne now, I've got no complaints.

Maybe it does make more sense the more I think about it... More hits being delt meaning more experiance too. Another thing I thought about.

I didn't like it at first, but after getting use to it now I think it's awesome. You most likely wont get killed in one or two hits(or within a few seconds), yet it is still challenging. There didn't seem to be any bugs from what I saw.

I find that it takes 4 times as mutch food to get stufed now . this happend after the changes to combat .
it has taken 4 food potions instead of 1 to fill .

So, even if you are not skiled with a blade, you can hurt people now? Great! Now we will have peoplea ttacking people al the time... ugh

No, it's more based on your skill with the blade now I believe. Which makes much sense.

I think, as a preliminary feeling, that I like it. I haven't had much chance to test it, but it appears to work very well. The one thing I noticed was that mummies actually hit on me now, as opposed to before. Even flies hit, however they do no damage. I think it's awesome!

Just one little remark (from the "father" of this system, if you allow me to call myself so

):
The system should be much more logic and complex now. This affects the way one "fighting round" is computed as well as the influence of weapon type, skills, attributes, armor of the opponent, "biological structure" of the opponent and much more.
To give one little hint: The blind man will not find the target.
If you hit, how strong you hit, how well you hit, if you dodge, if the hit causes damage through the armor etc. depends on all kinds of things which seem "logical" in a logical manner.
Watch out for "heavy" monsters! I don't know if you tried to kill the "big ones".

Well, father of the new system, my praise goes to you.
At least everybody who distributes their attributes (fairly) will have a decent chance of winning. Finally! No more people maxing constitution, dexterity, agility and strength while leaving everything else alone!
Also, there should be a great reduction in powergaming considering skill doesn't weigh so much in success in combat anymore.
As said before, great system, but in real life, real fights don't seem to last too long unless the fighters are of equal skill/attributes/weapons/armor/whatever. I thought a two handed weapon would be much more devastating. But, I could be wrong. You guys be the judge.
A question though. What is meant by biological structure?

May I guess height, weight, and race?
If that - then my turn to say Finally!

I was guessing the same thing K.
And, hopefully, more stats than constitution, dexterity, strength, and agility have to do with melee combat now. I find it very good that the characters who actually made their stats roleplaying friendly are now rewarded by this flood of common sense system.

I can't believe that this is everything you all wrote about the new system.
I expected at least 20 pages within 10 hours.
What about "heavy" monsters? Did you try them? Does it feel good? Should they become stronger? What about PvP? PK?

Ogres are hard. Hard in a very good sense. Way better then the old dumb beasts who couldn't hit the ground below their feet.
I'm not sure about the bigger monsters. The experiment yesterday was not that hard to do, but we had some very good fighters with us. I'll need to experiment more on that.

Well...I haven't killed a player yet, but the hit Darlok got on me was very weak, yet even Ogres hit very weak sometimes. So I don't want to say.

Fine.
I expect your reports in the next days.
Based on that, I will maybe change the system a little bit here and there.

be patient martin. it takes his time to get familiar with this new systhem. and not everyone is a fighter. but until yet, i like the new systhem. really. the only thing who disturbes are the flies. but just because ya need a lot of time to walk into the town, without them.
oh, and yes, if the ogre is really that strong, he shouldn't stand in the orecave anymore. or how should ya be able to mine ore now? with this situation just the miners who are string fighters too will be able to mine ore.
