Player graphics request... (armed/unarmed & armor)

I realize this may or may not be a lot of work, especially for all the races, and directions they face... but...
How easy/difficult is it to have these versions of characters:
Original (weapon/shield)
No weapon (shield only)
No shield (weapon only)
Distance/no shield (regardless of what weapon, bow/no shield)
I'd also love it where the avatar reflects the clothing being worn... but... that might be a huge task, between detection and translation to the avatar..
However, it would be easier to roleplay being unarmed, when, in fact, you are.. and, if someone claims to be unarmed, you will know if they're lying.

Bad idea cause some ppl would like to have "hidden weapons" that way they can do suprise attacks and such

Bad idea because this has been proposed a million times before.

Good idea just very hard, if not impossible, to implement. I like the idea if it would show if you are carrying a weapon in your hand. This gives the option to "hide" a weapon and also if you are about to attack. Still, it's not likely to happen so there you go.

Hey, here's an idea, why not just be able to look at people, and what they are wearing/holding comes up as TEXT? People think too much of graphics these days!

i know how you could put that in
say a dagger has a value say x
a bow has x to but is a diffrent value
a sheld has x as well
dagger= x=1
bow= x=2
sheld= x=3
then add them togeather
like if you have a bow its 2
so set a picture with a value c=2
and so on

i like the text idea.
For example:

An amulet
A cloak
A chaimail top
An iron shield
A Longsword
Pants
Leather Boots

Hell, I'd say make people clickable like depots except you cannot remove anything

Arks idead is good because with the origional idea; the graphics would be very hard to impliment because if a player is walking while carrying a weapon it means that there has to be a new animation with however many frames with each weapon.
You only see people carrying what they wear on other rpgs (eg runescape) because the graphics for Runescape are in (poor) 3D.
Illarion is more of a cross between a graphical and text based rpg not one or the other. It's evident by the ammount of #me(ing) going on

We use text to show some things we are doing instead of animations. If the game was 3D perhaps it would be easier to impliment, but here we are in 2D.

I think that they should make items worn show up on the character. It makes role playing much easier, for example you could compliment someone on what their wearing, where as now that is impossible. It also just plain makes the game look better, and brings the quality of the game up.

Sorry, but I don't think you understood what I was insinuating previously.
This has been discussed to death and has been rejected many times.
It would simply be too much of a burden for the graphics team. They would have to individually model each character with each weapon.
Take for example the male elf. If the elf were using a bow, they would have to animate the two walking eastward animations, two southward, two westward and two northward. That's alread eight separate with that one individual item. Take for example, there are 100 equipable items. That would be 800 separate animations. For one character. Hopefully you can understand that the graphic artists do not have this amount of time to do this.
Besides, it is of no benefit to the roleplay of the game if you can see your character with his Sword of Challamuss...
Oh, by the way, you can compliment people on what they're wearing now. It's called "roleplay."

What about people who are wearing long coats and cloaks to hide their weapons? Holding them up their sleeves? In their boots?
Nah, I still stay with the old fashioned method of RP descriptions.
When someone makes a move
#me looks at the man and studies him,
I usually go:
#me is wearing a red shirt with a chain armor on top, green trousers, a viking helmet, metal boots, and seems to be armed with an axe, with a sickle on his belt, and a shovel on his back.
