Buy/Sell board - Making one might be very useful for later..

Post by Quain »

has there been any real discussion as towards how the buy/sell information will be organized (or if it will at all) for later maybe? The intention is to eventually not need NPC's right? Please post comments below this... I wonder how well the translater at altavista will work if I plug in the other language for it to translate...

Buy/Sell board

Post by Bror »

Our intention was to keep NPC in the game, which detrermine their prices by offers and requests. The sell prices should be higher than from players, while the buy orices should be lower.
The players should be able to run shops on their own (i.e. build the building, hire vendors (players or NPC)).

But I have no slight idea how to realize it ;-)

Will having NPCs in player-owned stores be possible? Some people say it will ruin roleplay and player interaction, but you can not possibly be on Illarion all the time.

well, paul, the point you brought up is just like any small business. Of course we cant be there all the time, thats why there is such a thing as closed hours. Also, we can hire players as vender as well. So, we really dont need NPC's.

But can you trust the people as well as you can NPCs? Well... nevermind. I see.

Paul, I do agree with your thoughts, but just as Freo said, there are closed hours. Just like my dad's bagel shop, a lot of people have said their parents can never buy bagels home for a snack or dinner because they come home later than 6 PM and the store closes at 6. I can't open the shop any longer, our friend who runs the shop has been there since 3 AM and needs to have a break! It would seem more realistic if there were open and close hours.

A think to thing about....

you could possibly use a Buy/Sell board as a sort of Illarion stock market, or an auction house, it should be thought over much before any desiscion is made. a Stock market ca be a very bad thing at times

Most people use the rpg board for auctions/business purposes.

i think a seperate board would be better though. It gives people more of an opportunity to have an auction or sell something and doesn't crowd up the RPG board.
