Fighting commands // Kämpfende Befehle

One of the GM's said that firing arrows will be declared as PK unless you use #me , but why not have it automated? I'm sure sometimes there just isn't enough time to type the #me, especially if it's a thief getting away with your belongings, or in the heat of a fight. It need only be something short like ...
#me fires an arrow
#me fires a bolt
It could also be used for different weapons ..
#me draws his sword
#me aims his wand
#me lifts his axe
#me readies his hammer
Your thoughts on this?
======
#me Feuer ein Pfeil
#me Feuer ein Schraubbolzen
Er könnte für unterschiedliche Waffen auch verwendet werden.
#me zeichne ich seine Klinge
#me Ziele sein Wand
#me Heber seine Axt
#me vorbereite seinen Hammer
Ihre Gedanken auf diesem?

Why can't the players do these emotions themselves? In my opinion every good roleplayer gives his opponent the chance to do an emotion.
The PK-Problem doesn't nearly exist anymore since the E-Mail Account. If something happens, the gms can look it up on the server logs - as far as I know.

It's not to prevent PK, it's just that Keikan (I think it was) said that if you dont #me shooting your bow then he would take it as PK.
Not everyone in Illarion is a model roleplayer, some people attack others but cause no harm (all you hear is the sound) and when you ask who did it everyone denys it, but plainly you would know who had done it.
Also, if you are in the middle of a battle you might be half way through typing the command when before you know it someone is already coming at you with sword and shield.
The idea is to ease the roleplay of fighting and prevent some poor roleplay.

I agree, in battle you have to make quik decisive moves and typing can't be one of them if you want to live.

This could naturally be done with some gentlemannish house-rules. It would, however require both of the opponents to be fair and trustworhty players.

true, but if it was someone just trying to kill you.... you dont have to to say #me draws his blade your more focused on defending yourself

True, naturally.
This could only work between two players who'd respect 'the system' and would not seek to abuse it.

Wouldn't this create tons and tons of spam?
#me draws an arrow
#me fires an arrow
#me draws an arrow
#me fires an arrow
#me draws an arrow
#me fires an arrow
#me draws an arrow
#me fires an arrow
#me draws an arrow
#me fires an arrow
And so on. And thats only 5 arrows.

Then why not have it say it only when you target some one, like let's say you ctrl click on the somebudy when you ctrl click it says
#me nothces an arrow
#me draws his weapon
or something like that, but only when you target not ever time you hit.Well what do you think?

That was the idea, perhaps I didn't make it clear enough on my first post, sorry.
Anyway, it's nice to see the responses from people, thanks. Although it should be typed by the player I think this slows down the roleplaying, but with this (I believe) it would speed up the roleplaying and in some cases, improve it.

Or, how about, if a thief steals and gets killed by an arrow in the back later, he doesn't whine about being dead? That's just common sense. After all, you can do the commands from within yourself. Why should everybody else notice it, step by step?
I would classify it as PK if there was no reason to the killing. I think there should be a way where one would know how actually shot the arrow.

how about private message between the archer and the victim for example it would look like...
Grant Herion: 45787 is shooting at you!

yea that would be great it would be kinda lifelike because you know who shot you but ot thatgood if some one was an assaian

by Rynt
Yes, but SOME people would say "I'm an Assassin! You can't see me, even though I'm right in front of you, attackingyou with a very shiny weapon!"

How about a message that says "an arrow hits you fired from the (direction)". Direction being one of eight N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW. This gives the archer some anonymity but gives the victim a clue.

If you get shot by an arrow chances are you're going to see who shot it. I like the idea of just #me shoots an arrow whenever you shoot an arrow. I know this may spam a bit, but in combat you're generally not going to be shooting 15 arrows as one of you will most likely be dead in a short while unless it is a paticularily equal match. And spam was a big issue in the old client but now that you have the ability to scroll up and down i don't think it's as big a problem as if you miss what somebody said just scroll up a bit.

Just type #me shoots
Its easy. I will time myself
#me shoots #me shoots #me shoots #me shoots #me shoots
Somewhere around 5 seconds total for 5 shots. Easy.
And if you are hit by an arrow, you might not be able to see who did it. If you get shot in the back, how can you see them? But of course you know you have been shot... well, because something kind of hit you, and is kind of sticking out of your body....
It should just say Grubba: You have been shot!
Or Grubba: Someone shot you!

Not everyone can type as quickly as you.
If someone fires an arrow at you I'm sure you wouldn't be the only person who sees it. Also if the message #me fires from a bow (etc) only appeared once I'm sure it would be sufficient.

That was the point I was going to bring up. The private message idea is not the best because some people in the surrounding area will have seen it firing, too, so they should get messages, too. The directional one would be good if there was a compass.
