Seasons / Jahreszeiten

This idea came into my mind some minutes ago. I don´t really think that it is a necessary improvement of this game, but a nice one.

As some of you might know it is possible to exchange the tiles of the client by custom made tiles. Maybe someone could create tiles according to the different seasons or climatic circumstances. I.e. if it has snowed you replace the current tiles with a set of winter tiles. I know, you can all do this by imagination, but the benefit of a graphical client of a game like Illarion is that you can support your imagination by such things like graphics. Climatic changes and seasons could be announced via the board from time to time.

---

Yes, and unlike a lot of proposals this one doesn't create a lot of work for the GM's. Heck, maybe even one of our loyal devoted fans who's talented with photoshop can make the tiles, then we just simply have to back up the original tiles and insert the own tiles for ourselves. No programming for the GM's!

Unless i'm missing something here?

You know up where the real life time is on the screen? At the upper right hand corner?

I think they should put a calendar up there along with it, but an in game calendar. We can make our own calendar with the in-game day and month. And the months can be something like "Icefall" for a cold wintery month, or "Deadflower" for the very hot month/season.

The calendar can go in any order at any time, as time isn't the same in the game as it is in real life. So we wouldn't have to calculate what would work as a "real" calendar.

This way, we can roleplay the weather, so the GMs wouldn't have to change tile after tile just for the feel of a season.

mmm... just wondering... does the IG time stay the same as the Real Life time? or is there like one IG day every one or two hours?

@ Bloodhearthe:
The calendar does exist. Look here

There was also an ingame/ real life time ratio of 8/1 proposed but that was not used because of too many disadvantages.
Until now no new time ratio has been officially declared, but it might go along 3/1 or 4/1.

Nanuk said 1:4 (real:Illa). I think thats pretty offical, although I might not agree with it. (3:4 rules).

Seasons would be great, but it's not gonna happen soon. You are underestimating just how many tiles there are in this game, it wouldn't be any walk in the park... And then after that, it would take ages to change them because it would have to be manually. Lag may be another issue... But, if there was a auto changer (which would also take time to have put into the game), this would be an outstanding adition to the game, yet would take long to implement.

I think this idea is awsome. It would aslo be good to have a little message or icon, telling the weather conditions. ie. windy, rainy, sunny, etc...

For some reason, the last post reminded me somehow of Rollercoaster Tycoon, how I do not know.
