Illarion needs an installer to have support for those people who do not have a way to open ZIP files. It also gives a bit of professionalism to illarion. I have the software to make an installer if the developers think it's a good idea. Let me know.

A ZIP file opener is kind of standard if you want to download files off the internet. Buying one isn't that expensive.

You can use Winzip as "Evulation Version".

Windows XP already supports .zip-Formats and can extract them on its own.

or you can just zip them as a self-extracting archive meaning you wouldn't need any other programs. I just think that's it completely unnessessary, that's all.

Hehe, Winzip is so easy to use after the evaluation time is over.

ZipZilla is what I use, a godsend, and fully free if I'm not mistaken.

 What about directX and such? I think the installer could be programmed to see if direct X is on a computer. If it's not or it's too old it'll be able to download and install whatever the current DirectX is. Can ZIPs do that? 8)

btw, while on the subject of zips, has anyone heard of 7Zip? just wondering.

it is our policy to interfere as little as possible with the private computer-environment. (at least until yet)
this means we dont install things in another place than the specified folder,
and we dont install third-party programms (and dont ask to do so).
All this has to be done by yourself, at your own risk and decision.
