Concerning the shadows

In the recent days I recognized that the shadows of the buildings are often abused as long term hideouts. One the one hand, the shadows offer opportunities for roleplaying actions like hiding and stabbing someone from behind, but running around in the shadows makes you almost invincible. I propose to fill most of the shadows of the buildings with obstacles like hedges until a satisfying solution for the shadows is found. Some gaps in the shadows should be left out, so someone can hide there but also can be forced out by his pursuers. I have something like the following in mind:

XX
XX
XX
X0
00
X0
XX
XX
XX

X: obstacles in the shadows
0: free tiles

Right now, if you stand right in front of someone who hides in the shadows you have almost no possibility to get hold of him, this fact was abused too often recently.

It's also abused by people who break into Greenbriar, and hide the unfinished building's shadows. It makes them almost impossilbe to be removed.

I would not think it a problem, if the people who "hide" there were actually RPing it which includes some #me`s and is NOT possible while running around, shooting or casting, because this would draw attention. But simply walking there and start to insult others from there is on the edge of breaking a rule. You use a "technical" advantage to annoy other players, who can do almost nothing against it IC.

That's right Hagen. I really can't see it anymore...how people hide there and attack others without any RPing. One of my characters got also shoot by snipers (several times in just 5 minutes) who didn't use any RP, Bye the way, is there a possibility to bring that into a violations mail? I mean, I have no proof for this, just one wittness ingame. Are there loggs for the GMs where you can see what happened?

For Player Kills:

Send Mail to violations@illarion.org
Include Time, when it happened, and Name of your Character.

We have the possibility to track back every Kill.

It is impossible to attack someone from the shadows. I play a street rat, I know. It's possible to yell, but it is bad RP in my opinion, since the whole point of hiding is not being noticed.
What I see as a problem is the opposite - when a person is hiding, but his number can still be seen, even to a person behind the wall.

I think there are one or two places near the corners of walls where you can still see out of, and attack from. Only about 1 or 2 squares mind.

Even though Hagen is right that thieves should roleplay hiding behind buildings there are still some players who won't bother to care they are roleplaying and use their #me's to locate or track a thief.

For instance:

1#me hides behind the rock
2#me senses the thief behind the rock
1#me concentrates to move as quickly and as quietly as possible
2#me 's super sensitive ears hears the noise easily

Anyway, just thought I should point that out. If a thief is decent enough to roleplay you could at least cut them some slack  IMO

You can't see people's numbers when hiding in shadows. Atleast I never can. Also you shouldn't be pressing F12 to look for people, that's bad RP. There should be bushes and objects there.

You should be able to use f12 to look for people because in reality you should see them because shadows arent comepletely dark. You shou8ldnt use this as a main soulrce to look for people but if they are just hiding behind buildings, and not roleplaying then this is a good thing to do. If they are rping well then maybe you shouldnt use it.

@ Keikan

Well, I still know the place but I forget the day and the time. It was probably a month or something ago. I fear it's impossible to get the sniper but next time I will note date and time.
