got attacked for nothing

the below happened to my other character Gronfyn Alkidor, as Valdonyr is not yet activated.

the day before yesterday, i was peacefully going to the farmland where i had some grain growing. i had walked a bit to the east of troll's bane untill the grain grew well to be cut. While i was going to where the grain was, i got surrounded by three uknown orcs who asked for my money, and if i refused, they said they would kill me. In fact, i ignored them and showed NO violance with them at all ... i kept on walking, but they kept following me and blocking my way ... i had two gold coins (as i am poor) on my belt and let them on the floor.
while the orcs gathered around the gold, i made for the east gate but they kept coming after me and saying strange words (i do not know if it was german or their own rp orcish bcos i do not understand german).
they surrounded me again close by the gate and one of the orcs started to attack my character .. i had nothing else to do but to defend myself if i could, so i attacked the one with the highest number, but it was all useless... i got killed !!
i find this wrong and bad rp ... maybe i am wrong, (then GMs should correct me and tell me why), but these orcs i didnt know by name neither of them three ... and they attacked me without any good rp reason ... so i think... i was peacefully going to gather my grain as i said... i think i did not do anything wrong to provoke them ...
well maybe its good rp because they are orcs, but i do not think so ... they wanted my gold without telling me a reason, and threatened me to kill me if i refused ... and so they did ... without a good rp reason

please some GM reply (i have sent an e-mail at violations already)

and if i am wrong about the bad rp ... correct me then

a group of orcs trying to get gold from your character and beating your character up because you didn't give him gold? This is called good roleplay from orcs.

Grant is very right here. It was GOOD RP... and it was your character's bad luck he didn't know how to handle orcs...

next time you better not play the hero but pay them or run for your life and scream for help...

i don't think that this was bad rp. see, do ya have ever heard from bandits? highwayrobbers? this three orcs are this sort of peoples. they wait outside the town until they see a victim, takes them gold, and that was it. it is dangerous outside of trolls bane, so ya have to be carefull. but ya have given them gold, so i think it wasn't okay that they have killed ya. the next time give them ya gold, if ya are not strong enough to fight them. or ask some strong fighters if the want to protect ya, for a few money of course. or ask a friend if he can search the orcs and bring ya money back.

ähm, and please, don't use the numbers to see who is weak and who strong. that isn't good rp.

Well my two cents.

First even if you paid them off they could still kill you for a legitmate rp reason, Why would they want their faces to be recognized? It is natural for a highwaymen to kill their victims even after money is recieved it isnt like those tales you read in books or see in movies.

Second if what Pilz says is right you logged out making your rp bad.

In my eyes, I think Gronfyn was the bad RP. He attacked the one with the highest number. How owuld your char know which one was newer?

Although it is legitimate roleplay I don't think it should be allowed by the rules of the game. This is to stop people that all they want to do is pk. Otherwise it would be a nice excuse for bands of pkers to go around asking for money and, if you pay them or not they kill you. It is very unfair otherwise, in my opinion.

I'm impressed. I have never yet seen such roleplay from orcs :D Keep it up

And good point, Deies, although quite funny.

Klith - the point with PK'ers is exactly that they don't roleplay their killing sprees. This instance you mention seems to me as not only excellent roleplay, but also gives huge potential for equally great roleplay for everyone else. Such a situation can easily get out of hand, with a lot of bands of brigands, and as such would only add to the authenticity of the game. Brigands, highwaymen and robbers were very common outside cities in the old days, and as such, venturing outside town would be very dangerous, just as it should be.

If such unlawfulness rules outside town, there could finally become a real need for mercenaries for protection and such.

Actually Mishrak, the Bloodskulls used to have town raids back when Gargoth, Grukuk and Ashburg were around...

It is a question of fairness at all. I think an Elf wandering through the forest should have heard the Orcs and their preparations for an ambush.

So OOCly he should have been given the chance to flee before he even arrived the place of the ambush. If he marches on... well, that would be his own fault.

Actually, Gran, I was talking about bandits outside town.
In town it would be too disrupting, but if the wild outside town became truly dangerous, i think the roleplaying community could easily find some interesting situations.

Don't think Ashburg was here back then. besides, back then it was just another incident in the great wave of pk.
