Name and Number problem

There has been much contraversy over people memorizing others numbers and people treating higher numbers different than lower numbers without rp. There are also some people who don't give out there name using (#i), saying that they are disguised or wear a robe over there face. I have several proposals which might help in this area:

-Player number will not be displayed to other gamers, instead a discription of there features be displayed with things such as eye, hair color, and hair lengh, and special distinguishing features selected by the player such as a scar or tatto they have on their face.

-Players could disguise themself if they are wearing a rob and right click on it or somthing. Then no name or discription would be displayed to anyone, untill they take off the disguise. This would be the rl equivelent of putting up the hood on their robe hidding their face.

Another minor problem i've noticed is that it is hard to read the names of people and distinguish them in a large crowd, because they sometimes overlap.
-Clicking on a player shows the features and name of only that one player at that time.

*this last one could be implimented once the knock out before death feature in put into the game.
-If someone is killed while wearing there disguise, for the time they are lying there, players could click on him to reveal his identity (display their features, and name if they know it).

Please give your feedback on what you think of any or all of these ideas
Thankyou for reading

The knock out feature has been implemented and then removed. It caused...problems, to say the least.

The numbers are ther for a reason. Its to report violations to the Gamemasters. I like your last idea, though. The screen does get quite cluttered.

i think players should all look the same yes, and good wear a disguise... this helps a lot to RP
for example if a player is wanted, he can pass through crowds disguised in a hood or cloak or robes, and when he is wanted, his description is given for example Blonde Hair, Tall, Elf, with a Scar on his back (FOR EXAMPLE)
this would be great to RP, better than having to say "((504**))" for his number

what kind of problems was caused by the knock out feature? It would also work well with Elaralith's idea of rping bringing someone to jail as opposed to them just being placed by the game.

The problem with the whole clthing description thing is lets say I attack you...and I am wearing full plate armor and a shield and a sword...then after you get resurrected at the cross and you get a mob together and come looking for me, I have changed clothing, a cloak, wizards hat, a dress, and a staff....then I would deny it obviuously and since there are so many Female elves on the island it would be kinda irrational to just assume I changed clothes and attack me.

First it is bad rp to get ressurected then gather a mob together right away, second, these features wouldn't just be clothing but facial features such as eye and hair. Third, you might for rp reasons want to hide yourself after just killing someone.

And this game would work great if everyone rp correctly...but sadly enough not everyone does. Hair could be changed....also, you think the gms want to have everyone send in stats on their character so they can program a thing for each character? Do you think the players want the staff to make up stats for them? Sounds like a huge hassel....I'd rather have them working on more important things...or more over...they should all take a vacation, because they deserve one

I still like the idea of wearing a cloak dark enough to hide your number.

Although, then, it would be easy for a powergamer or server rule breaker to do whatever the hell they want without the GMs knowing.

That, and there seems to be a fad of "myserious killer" characters running around. Just about everybody would be wearing a cloak, thereby making it lame...

I say the GMs should entrust only the best RPers to wear cloaks for number hiding, to eliminate both problems.

Take Darlok for example. In the past, he had the power to really mess up RP and technical functions if he wanted to, but he didn't. Why? Because he, as player, and his roleplaying, has been trustworthy enough to let him have such powers to improve the atmosphere of Illarion.

And what would happen if you say someone with no number...immediatly you would think something bad was up, or ity was a technical problem......

Yes. Yes I do. It just looks more appropriate for your character.

I thought my new one looked cool, but I've been told it looks like he's either constipated or pissed. I'm going for the latter...

Anyway, I thought there was a technical problem when I saw a demon skeleton and demon with a number, but tah-dah. It turned out to be good ol' Drahken and Ashkatuul. So, as long as it really isn't a tech problem, I think it's good; people consider them special.

I think that anything newly implemented will always have the potential to be abused. If people all want to go around without any rp reason with their hood up, then they also won't be recognized by their friends and others they interact with in the game. It would be a disatvantage to them.
Maybe the idea about taking away the numbers when the disguise is on isn't too good, because numbers are needed to report players not following rules.
Only people with actually active character would send in a profile, there are probably quite a few character that will never be played again. Ther features could just be a few simple things: eyes with a few colors to select from, hair with leanght and color to select from(could inclued facial hair), maybe special facial features, and maybe other features i have not thought of.

It is pretty sad to see that we need to implement something for a disguise. Back when my character was really bad (yes he was much worse then now...), i could just roleplay having a ripped up cloak on and looked like a dirty begger, even tho people knew I was Grant ooc, they would roleplay ignoring me becuase who would want to watch a dirty begger walk through town... he could carry the plague or something...

first sentence:
it is bad rp to go around all the time with a hood up or a cloak for no reason, even when you arent in crowds, and if this was implemented, i surely would not go around all day with a cloak or a hood...
if we want more implementations in the game, we just have to respect them thats all ... if we are mature enough not to abuse of better implementations, then let us respect them and more feature shall be implemented ... i think that in life, anything can be abused and done in a wrong manner... so its up to us if the GMs give us new features, to respect them as mature roleplayers...
second sentence:
i do NOT agree that numbers should be taken off... not at all ... but if we were able to disguise ourselves, i do not know how people should remember all of each others numbers ... thats all ... its the fact of being mature roleplayers, that GMs put new features to the game, knowing that we wont abuse of them...
