Gronfyn stops cutting wood, as a bird arrives at him, taps him on the back, and drops a piece of parchment from his feet onto the ground by Gronfyn's feet. He opens the parchment which is neatly tied with a red ribbon and rolled up. Gronfyn starts to read the letter with elven-green-ink, as his face changes into a wide smile of joy and happines...
Dear Gronfyn Alkidor, dearest of all my elven family,
i hope thou is fine and full of strength after thy long journey to the lands of illarion. When i heard thee was journeying to the lands of peace, wisdom, joy and laughter, i was fulfilled with joy.
I am sending this letter to inform thou that i have arrived to the lands of illarion succesfully. I think thou dost not know that i was journeying to the lands whither thou is now, but i came to know that thou was journeying thither too, after some of my elven-friends informed me. I think we have already met in Troll's Bane, because i saw a face which renewed my old memory of when i saw thy face last, cousin, dost thou remember the last time we saw each other? When the world was young! I ask for pardon, but i hast seen too many faces of elves, and i am not sure which was thy's.
Now that i arrived hither, i await eagerly for thy reply so that we could meet again after so much a long time, dear cousin please DO send me back the bird with a reply from thee!
Signed by Belannaer
Gronfyn finishes the letter, with tears filling his fair eyes. As he gets prepared to send back the letter to his cousin Belannaer, and heads off to the city boards, with another intention in his mind apart from that of writing back to his cousin.
