Ok dis is wut happened. I currently can only use the resolution 800*600 for any program. My windows is always set to 800*600 resolution. My monitor is set to a driver which can only go upto 800*600.

I downloaded this game after i heard that u can play the game using this resolution.
But when i tried to run the game it said i couldnt.

So i asked a mod.. and he told me that u can run the game in 800*600 resolution cause he says he uses that.

So i did a test and put my monitor to a driver which could go upto 1024*800 resolution(although my monitor could not support that resolution). I then ran the game and guess wut.. the gamr ran... So u say there u go...BUT no he game did run but the graphics were all fuzzy...like the type of graphics u get when the resolution is TOO HIGH for ur monitor to support.

So wut i have found is that every1 who says they can ru nthe game using 800*600 resolution really dont know wut they r talking about.. BECAUSE there WINDOWS DESKTOP setting is at 800*600 resolution...But when they run the game... the game automactially changes the resolution to 1024*800...but because the game looks perfect..they assume it is running at 800*600........But really it isnt..it is running that the game's 1024*800...ALL it is is that THEIR monitor can support 1024*800 resolution.

So in conclusion...mods/admins should look more closely at the program coding.

p.s i still cant run the game its all fuzzy

perhaps the driver is the problem.
You should post your system configuration (grapiccard,windows version, etc) and the exact error message you get.

contrary to what ishan says i claim that it is impossible to play in 800x600.
no way. never.
you'd have to hack the client and change everything. take, for example, the placement in the inventory. the client tells your graphics card: "display item X on (coordinates A,B)". these coordinates A and B are fixed values for 1024x768. you'd have to change them for 800x600.
furthermore, one ground-tile has a size of 76x37. that means, that the field you are playing on has always the width of ~841 pixels. that would exceed your monitor.

whatever made you believe that you play illarion in 800x600: you made an error, its theoretically impossible. forthermore, that's off topic here. it would be on topic on one of the following boards:

when you start the game it switchs to 1024x768x16 fullscreen
you can check this when you use the osd menu of your monitor while playing illarion
it will say 102x768 and something more but this depends on your monitor.

btw many games switch the resolution to a preselected mode from the makers, and a few games can change this via options ingame

Maybe something you should consider:

Although if you configure your Windows to 800x600, Illarion (or better Direct X) switches automatically to 1024x768 on game start wether your monitor/gfx card supports it or not. So there are different possibilities what could happen: error message, program termination ... and a adaption to your screen resolution. But it is recommended to play that game in 1024x768 cause this game is made for this resolution, nothing else. If your monitor/ gfx card won't support this (uh, your PC should be really OLD) it's sad but there will be no code changes.

And Gunther, it's cruel to abuse the English language that way. And in my eyes it's also cruel to read that slang.

Hey dis pc aint old... i just got it... here r the specs:

2GHz K-6 Athlon
256 ddr ram
Geforce 3
50gb HARd Disk
blah blah blah(keyboard dvd crap etc)

so basically its well capable of running dis game... hell i could run GTA 3 if i wanted to.

But in my quest to get the ultimate pc...guess wut... i am using my old monitor.... BUT wut i found was dat my graphics card runs at a different resolution than dis monitor at 1024*800 so i cant do anything about it. My old card was a Sis 6324...

anyway so i have learnt dat the game will never run on dis pc...eh at least i can still play infantry and subspace.....

Thing which i dont get is why dis game has to run dat dat resolution....y dont they change it....well anyway

In your quest to prove everyone wrong and say that you are right you have ignored one thing.  Perhaps your old monitor does not support 1024x780 resolution with 16 bit colours or higher.  In order to play this game you WILL have to GET a NEWER monitor.   If you have a terrible monitor that won't support that resolution it doesn't matter if you got a video card that won't exist until 10 years into the future, IT WON'T WORK!!!  Although I am not an administrator I am quite computer literate and I believe, from experience that THIS is your problem.  

P.S. please do not use slang such as "r" or "dis".  I and many people prbobably have to read your posts twice just so we can understand them.

I run mine in 640X480 in 256 colors on a p2 333mhz with 32 mb ram and an 8mb vid card, and I havent had a problem ever since build 19......so in terms you would understand.
