Littered RPG board

Im getting rather sick of all of the spam and posts about buying and selling items.
Any one selling arrows out there. I reallt need them. Pleas list prices. Thank you.
I consider this spam, you could easily ask this ingame. or atleast put a bit more text on it.

I also consider this to be spam
I lack jobs. Any one who wants a wardrobe tailored, I can make them for you. Just tell me privately the colors and clothes and I shall make them, Prices depend on Material and amount of items.
Again you could easily ask this in game.
If anyone has a smaragd ring, I wish to buy it. Contact me by replying to this post. Thank you.
Also spam that you could ask ingame.
They are leather, thread, and magic books. Send me a dove if you have any of these things. Or meet me around town or by the prison.
The list goes on and on

Rarther than say "meet me in town and ill buy these items" why not just ask it ingame!? Posts like this do nothing but litter the RPG board. I dont understand why you would want to post this?

I think a better question is, why NOT post it? People need money, people want to sell things. The time issue has already been said many times, so I will leave it be for the main reason people do this. Also, people can make time ahead of time if they have a set time to meet someone in game, such as the gm's did with last sunday.

One last note:

If the gm's don't like it they will remove it, and I consider this post to be spam with the many topics addressing this same problem and suggesting an answer of an auction board.

I'll tell you why NOT to post it... It's bad roleplay! Do you think in real life people wrote down the things on a wall to sell things? Of course not! They had stands and yelled and passerby what their selling. The gamemasters built that marketplace for us.... so use it!

People did and still do, get your facts strait zare, everywhere I see large signs of advertisements, its a good way to advertise your products and gain business. However, I am against having auctions on these boards, merely saying what you have to offer, and reply if you would like to buy something is no clearcut deal. Why do you think people had large signs on their shops?

But Zare, do you think people in real life were only allowed to live their real life for a few hours a day, and press a magical key called "escape" to go who knows where at the same time people are about to sell something?

Sheesh, realism is nice, but to a certain point. The board issue is annoying. Can't the people make one subject and post in one subject called a 'market place' or something?

Market Place board is good idea

But even in "Real Life" more people advertise around a given town or market then anywhere else.

Illarion doesent have giant billboards from the highway, it has an rpg board, which people abuse.

But even in fantasy life, where people seem to live for a few hours, do they know they are "logged in" or "logged out"

Realism IS nice toa certain point, yes

but it IS ALSO bad RP yes

But look on the side of the veterans, the better RP comes from town selling, you get more realtime interaction, RP which is what this game was designed for.

This isent an uber-text based strategy/adventure bbrpg people.

I didn't clearify that posting for buying things I am against it just litters the board with uncountable repeated posts, however, merchants advertising their products is a different matter altogether I would think.

Gro'bul is right they used to do that back in the day.

Did they really advertise in medieval times? More than 90% of the people couldn“t read in this time, the only people that could were clerics and some higher nobles.

Yeh. I think they did advertise, but not with written messages. (Paper/parchment was too expensive for the common riff-raff to use anyway)

More like..
Hear ye, Hear ye! A pint of good ale at the Drunken carpenter fer only two copperpieces! Hear ye, Hear ye..

You get the picture. But this the medieval advertising was IMO, 'passing the word.'

Town criers for most things. Especially since only scribes and clergy could read or write...

Hmm, Maybe because people have looked around town. Plus it would be much quicker. That what boards are for. Posting things so every one can read rather then limiting them to only so few. You all believe that i no one back then posted items they needed. Or some how got out to the greater public.

Good ol Yohann Guetenburg invented the printing press making books availabile to the middle class, and with so many excelent craftsman and a public library, they could surely afford to have someone make a sign for them. Also take into account elves could are quite intelligent as they have nearly forever to learn a language well.
