When the game switches over to the new updated Illarion will all those who currently have an game account now have to reapply for one or will the be able to get in automatically?

Do u get this from a GM or are u just asuming?

I get this because, when they had other clients installed your account was still made.

But isn't this next switch going to be somthing really big or somthing like that? I hope your right because i don't wanna be on of the many many ppl applying all at once after the switch

I doubt they are going to make people get new accounts again. After all, that would a ton of work for the GMs to get through.

How I _THINK_ it works is when you make an account you get on an accepted list. Which allows you to log in under that name. Therefore all they have to do is carry over the exsisting log of names that are able to get in game over to the next version. Therefore it IS automatic. Hope this helps. Also... Don't think there will be a new version for a while. *grins* They seem to be upgrading without a new version. Which I would like to say im enjoying very much! Haha

But aren't they eventually going to have a big swtich becouse some of the things they seem to be working on would be to confusing to just be all of a sudden upgraded. Like then new map for example.

No

But how then do you add features like a new map, and everyone wither their own racial town?

I dont know. I am not a programmer. All I know is that they do what they do.

They do not make you reapply for an account when there is a new build on the client. I have seen the click and drag build method, where only gm's can accually click and drag buildings, tiles, monsters, depots, ect.

You will not need to reapply when the client is updated.

And adding a new map isn't a click&drag&drop-thing :-)

This is just pure and wild speculation, but I've heard that the new team of GMs have been out at the water near the black edge expanding the place tile by tile...if this is true, then it's one hell of an operation.

... I am not sure of that since I see Kiekan working at Darlok's castle and I see Magda working at the new building near the zombee ruins.

Ok... This is where I say a little of what I know of programing. The map they made trollsbane the island on is only SO BIG. Lets say for demonstration purposes... 500 X and 500 Y. Ever notices those little counters on the upper right hand corner? Well if I can remmeber right that is telling your location as coresponds to the X,Y plane.... So they really can't EXPAND the island unless they have empty spaces so far out. If im correct ( And the Lord knows im probably not ;) ) Those black area's ARE the very edges of the map. So therefore... From what I know they need a mapeditor. Im curious though as to why they do nto make several other maps like troll's bane and just have links between them... Such as tunnels etc etc... But then that falls under the category of needing more sever space... More bandwith.. Blah blah blah... So therefore at the moment we're stuck with tiny Troll's Bane :P Please anyone who knows please correct me? Cause im kinda curious myself. Thanks!

Well, if you head up north, as far as you can go, you will see you will look out at the sea but only see black spaces. So Gannon is right. They neeed to make a new map to build on. So they are not making a new country tile by tile.

Yes but what I am also trying to say ( Don't know how well I communicated it the first time ;) ) Is that they don't have a map editor AND I don't think there server is able to handle another map or the bandwith. Could someone who knows please tell me yeah or nay? Im curious to know if my TINY wee bit of knowledge of programming is right.

Incorrect...

Map editor

Ok Grant... They have had to have had an editor AT ONE TIME... Does it give a date? From what I have heard from late he is'nt around anymore. That's why they havent expanded the map any. Ack ok ok no more im waiting on a Gm's word....

Just one question: What is wrong with the current map that you want a bigger one? Sure, in distant future many things will change, but right now even Troll´s Bane is sometimes quiet deserted. Right now, we have 3 "cities" and that´s quiet a lot.

If there would be ~100 players online, sure, we would need a larger map as soon as possible.

@Belegi
There is not much room to build houses in the current map.

I agree with Belegi and Caranthir.. There isn't enough room to build any houses, but if the map was bigger it would look very deserted at time ... mmm dessert ...

I thought they were still making it, thats why it says don't send requests for it.

Okay, to clear some things up ...

The current map containing the whole island can be manipulated by the GMs via the click&drag&drop thingy. But to create a whole new map the server must be reconfigured.

We (as far as I can talk for the majority of the GMs and Devs) are thinking that the current map is too small. And we are already working on an expansion of the current map. This means: it is possible that the current map will change (as it was done some long time ago). Maybe the town Trollsbane will stay, but the surrounding will change. Maybe all will be wiped. I can't give a prognosis for that. But we are working on it ...

I thought they were making a bigger country or something that is what I heard.

On the main page it says that it is in it's "development-(alpha)-phase." So once it is out of this phase won't there be a restart and everyone start off with no experience or anything?

@ Grant ... another possibility to enlarge the living space in Illarion

@ kizad ... I just said that you won't have to reapply then. Sure there will be a restart from scratch. But don't expect the switch to beta tomorrow :-)
