Alignment System

I think that the alignment system should have it so that races such as orcs connot become good, because in the fantasy world we would never see a friendly orc they are always evil. This would help to create a realistic role play. But other races should still have to option of turning evil

There is no alignment system. A character is defined by what other characters think of him or her.

But i'm proposing that certian races such as orcs be made to role play as evil. and any other race can choose what they will. I just think the idea of an orc being friends with an elve. They are two opposites and stand for opposite

Just because Orcs don't like Elves it doesn't make them evil, just good judges of character

. I wish We'd get away from this idea that all Orcs are evil, all Elves are righteous and all Humans are warriors. Orcs are not evil, not nice much of the time but not evil.

Alignment will be added to the game some time in the future, and will only effect mages, so it seems:
Code: Select all
Each spell has an alignment value, as does the caster himself. Thus a low alignment caster will not be good at high alignment spells like healing and ressurection, whereas he would be very good at low alignment magic. One can slowly affect one's alignment by offerings, and doing good/evil deeds.
The above is found on the 'Magic system' link below 'Develpoment'.
PS, do full stops go before or after the ' ?

Each species has it's own ways of "good" and "evil".
If you look at the race description for orcs on moonsilver.de you will notice that orcs are not "evil creatures", but an uncivilised, barbarian race which worships either Moshran or Malachín and may live from assaulting settlements or from peaceful hunting and farming.
So their are "good orcs" too, as well as their are good and evil humans, elves, dwarves etc. and not to forget many more "grey" beings in between the extremes.

But if you look at fantasy you'll see that orcs are created evil, and that's what they do.
P.S if you use (?) then you don't put a full stop.

So, all orcs have to be evil? Think of the D&D Alignment system. There is Lawful, Neutral and chaotic, and then another set, good, neutral and evil.
You can get lawful good, chaotic evil, or Lawful evil, and chaotic good. I'd say most orcs are Chaotic, but not evil. So I'd say, in a D&D environment, they's be Chaotic Good/Neutral/evil, or MAYBE neutral good/true neutral/evil, because living with all these other races, orcs can become more civilized.

This is right. But if you take a look at Illarion as it is right now, the biggest part of the inhabitants are in some way civilizised in a human way. Orcs simply don´t fit in a town like Troll´s Bane, it should be an exception to see some of their kind.
A normal minded human, elf or halfling char should actually be surprised to encounter an orc in town. The reaction may range from agression over mistrust to fear, but not in indifference as it is nowadays.
In some way orcs symbolize "the evil" as they are created by Moshran. Maybe people that want to play an orc should apply for that, first. I think it would bring the RP a lot further if only people that played a "normal" char for a while and prooved good RP should be allowed to play races like orcs and lizards.
EDIT: spelling

This sound like a very good idea.
The reason i put up this post was to see what people generally think of this idea. So if anyone out there has any opinion on this please post it no matter what it is.

The current society of Illarion forces different races to equal to a certain point. As we all only have one town to live in we have to live with each other. I would prefer orcs to be more "orcish" too, but that isn't possible as long as they have to live in the same town as everyone else.
Illarion is not LotR, and is neither any other fantasy world in existence. Hence orcs in Illarion are not evil slaves of certain dark beings, but creatures created by and for Moshran and can live any way they want, although the "evil" orc worshipping the bone lord and celebrating barbaric bloody rituals might be the more common one.

Alignment... I doubt that we really need a "system" for this, every player plays his character with some sort of alignement right now, do we need a check box to roleplay an evil character?
But even if it´s a bit off topic, right now the players of the orc characters are doing a good job, most of them. Running around and butchering innocent people is not what a orc should behave like, but an orc should be more agressive then an elf. I´m troubled by many players playing elves; they behave like rude villains and some of them are not even able to write a full sentence.

Alignments would not be a statement of good or bad. It will figure out if you are good or bad by the actions you take, and then I guess there will be 'good' magic and 'evil' magic, so that both will have different spells etc.

I agree with this. Many of the "new" Elves are not played too well. But then again we must all keep in mind that it is harder to act refined and civilized than to act rude and vulgar.
