My avatar is 7kb, 63x95 pixels, and is saved as a jpeg, BUT when I try to put it in it says:
The avatar filetype must be .jpg, .gif or .png

I use paint.... and I saved it as a jpeg... but my paint is made mainly for bmp's I think.... Can anyone help me?

Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 8 KB.

you relize the max dimensions are 80x80.

It needs to be 80x80 pixels or smaller, I import into paint too. just make sure its a Jpeg thats under 8 Kb

6kb, 63x77kb, saved as a jpeg, but ''The avatar filetype must be .jpg, .gif or .png'' came up again.

I think I might know whats wrong. When I save it, I can only save it as BMP's but i typed in .jpg in the name. It said it was a JPEG item, but my paint only saves stuff as BMP's...... Help?

"your" paint? ms paint can save as jpeg, but you must use a little roll-down menu. you can save as "avatar.dumb" but it will still be a bmp if you have that selected.

Yes Grobul, ''my'' paint, the one on my computer. Roll down menu?? Do you mean where it says: Save as type: ?? If you mean that one, all I have are different BMP's, like Monochrome bitmap, 16 color bitmap, 256 color bitmap, 24 bit bitmap. Can you explain more?

You must change the name. [name].jpg than must that.

Noo... you dont understand. All I put was {NAME}.jpg, I can not save it as anything but a bmp....

Paint is always the same, so you have to be able to save it as a JPEG. The the drop down menu Save as: the last thingy is JPEG File interchange Format (*.jpg, *.jpeg)
If you do not find it or have it just send it to someone and ask him/her to change it for you.

why wont you send me your picture? maybe i can help you with it,and when its done il send it back to you..you just need to copy and paste it

Paint CAN, and often does for me, save pictures as a .JPG. All you need to do is choose 'save as' and at the option bar, choose JPG. Pretty simple..

Just google for Irfan View.

Paint seems to have problems with some windows versions. It can somehow don´t save your picture as you like them to be.

Use Irfan View, it´s free.

you could use psp. (paint shop pro)

Paint can AND cannot save as jpeg, depending on what paint / windows version you have and on how it was installed ( filters for export and import stuff, i think ).
