I did a search and didn't find any thing so here it goes.

I think there should be more npc's in the game, there are times when few poeple are on and it doesn't feel much like much of a town.....and dwarf town looks more like an abonded mine than a Dwarf city....I think there should be npc's that walk around in town or just stand there they cloud say random(spelling) things or not say any thing at all...and in dwarf to there could be dwarf npc's that appear to be working((standing by anvils and make the sound that happens when you smith) does anyone esle think this is a good idea.....feel free to say add or say anything you'd like

I remember, when Silverbrand was build, there were once some few NPC dwarfs, digging there ... but soon, they were killed by a fool, using them as training partners, cause they don't attack back.
Like some also use Eliza or the cross for training ....
And I don't see, how NPCs enforce roleplay. They are little dumb persons, standing in the way.

Not sure if it would lag the server more as I don't really know much about that kind of things.

heh, when you attack the cross it decreases skill.

Harhar, dare to attack Eliza but don´t come whining afterwards to me, if she gave you a real beating!

In the past, serveral villains attacked Eliza for fun or training purposes, but I saw many of them killed at once by citizens that don´t like it if someone attacks Eliza. Some more NPC would be great, but not to replace the population (you can do that in your imagination!) but to have more possibilies, i.e. a magic store or a temple with a healer inside would be quiet nice. But there are more important things to improve...

Yours Belegi

I think a Druid/Herb Lore shop in the middle of the northern woods would be nice. A place you could sell potions/herbs or buy them for a few gold higher then the normal SMACC price. It wouldn't be to stop player interaction, that is what the higher prices are for, it would be for when you can't find any druids or you are a druid and no one is buying many potions (which is the case for many druids like Rosa Underhill).
Other shops located around the island such as Armoury, Bowman, Fisherman, Farmers, Cooks would be nice, maybe when the larger map is implemented.

That proposal sounds good to me at first. I also thought about something like more NPC's. Then I thought some further. The question is easy: Why the hell more NPC's? The characters should be the ones who talk to each other and interact, if you want more NPC's you could even play a single player game, that wouldn't be much different any more!
Shops seem to be a good reason for some new NPC's. But that way the SMACC would not be needed any more, the characters would stop to trade because you can get everything in the shops and everyone could do something like collecting drop stuff from zombies which you can sell for a lot of money and then get every item you need at any time. That would be boring for the players, wouldn't it?

Well.......if you read the web site under development, it me sounds like there will be more npc's when the game is finsh,I thought I propos some that are just townspeople though...that way it seems like a real town, and that way not everone who lives in trolsbane would have some sepical(spelling) about them,it seems that every person the comes to the island, has a dark past, or the family die,or the a king or next in line for the throne,or the last of a tribe(my story ),or something like that.

Well that way there are no families in Illarion. Your story could also be: You are new in Illarion and a family gets you as their son or daughter. As RP of course, I know that from another RPG I once played :)

Some people say instead of having NPC shop owners the players should interact and run the shops and so forth. The only problem with this is it is hard to find someone who deals in what you need.

I have tried many times to buy some healing potions from players and cannot find anyone who sells them. I ask almost everyone I see and no one is selling them. I don't want to shout it because that is one thing that really annoyed me about Tibia is all the people shouting all the time. A potion and herb shop somewhere would be nice.

Well I know some people who sell potions!
Maybe you just have to search some more?
Or ask the right persons ;)

I think and hope, that this game will never realy finished.
When the map is bigger and if it give more towns, then there will be more than one/two NPC trader.

I have to agree this game should never finsh, but if it does oh well I'll still play.

this game would never finish I hope so anyways... I can only imagine what we will all do with the bigger map... But I fear it'll be so big, people will be alone often and it'll get a little boring...

That would not be nice of course. Sometimes there are not more than 2 players online... and Illarion is very big already. I also hope that the game will never finish. Because a real RPG CANNOT finish! Life also doesn't, so why should an RPG which is the kind of game next to life?
NPCs would be like androids, i don't think they will be the best resolution. Maybe some kind of bots? With a little AI engine?

maybe the programers can create a new skill or something so that we will be able to make our own "golem" npcs. They'd only be as smart as we could make them or whatever, and they'd deteriorate over time if we didn't maintain them. They'd learn and grow, etc... And you could teach them to tend your shop, farm, guard your crops, whatever^.^

The golems could be created from some kind of druid potion, the better the druid is the better the potion might be if he/she makes it. Or maybe it could be from the claymaking skill someone mentioned awhile back. First you get into bowls, vases, etc.... finally you figure out how to turn the clay into "pseudofleash" so that it's almost real-.^

As a rule they could limit...2 golems per person. Then if they wanted to they could also hire other player's golems to work for them and such!

One more thing. Having these golem NPCs would also open up the way for another quest-.^ Imagine the fun and chaos if a golem rose up and asked why he should work for his creator and not himself^.^

I think businesses with shops (like the silverstar merchants) should be able to "hire" an npc for their shop. they give him the potions, armor, weapons whatever and he sells them.

Gro'bul,i love that idea that way the npc could only sell the amout he is given, and not just sit there so the owner gets a ton of money for nothing.

but of course, you wouldn't want player-owned npc's raking in money, however the non player controlled npc's are the only way to get money out of the game, helps stop inflation.

Well, you do have a point there....but let it be know I want a female npc  sorry couldn't help it ((I just love finding reason to put the twosted smiles in))

Seems to me like it's more realistic if it's hard to find certain common items, like potions...and NPCs that just have everthing in stock all the time is unrealistic. Players should own the shops and hire NPCs, but have to find or order for the items to sell.

As for filler NPCs just to make a town look populated, I don't think NPCs that just stand there and look stupid make the game any better. Knowing you can actually interact with everyone is nice.

Making shops and hiring npcs is cool and all, but there is now ay it should be available to everyone, because everyone would want one...then you would have like 500 shops in town with npcs and you wouldnt know where to buy from....thanks but no thanks...I say dont let anyone hire an npc....you want something sold...sell it yourself or pay another player to sell it for you...plus it will add to character interaction

Making NPCs carry potions for sale was already tested for a brief time before and was later removed, so it probably did not have a positive effect.
