On a more serious not will somebody please post i cannot see a thing when i log in and I also think my map is screwing up it is changing colors.HELP me please

I would suggest you re-download the current client. That normally fixes all the problems.

How long do you wait while the screen is black before you press esc? It sometimes takes 10-15 seconds for the screen to stop being black and become the game screen.

Either, you started Illarion from a shortcut. You need to start the client from the icon in the Illarion main folder!
You did not unzip all the files into the Illarion Folder. Make sure that especially the *.tbl files are there.

Yes, you must open Illarion from the folder that it is in. In other words, you have to open the folder with all the Illarion files in it, and then click on the game icon. This happened to me once, when i opened the file from a shorcut button and just a black screen and a purple map showed up. I could talk but I couldn't see.

Right click the file, go to 'extract' and then a new small window should pop up allowing you to choose where to extract the contents to. Then it will extract it automatically.

I open Illa from a short cut all the time, and I've never had problems, so it was probally the fact that the server as down tht done this.
