Goodbye, I'm leaving - My feelings and apologies

I've decided to leave Illarion for now and to remove my influence on this world.
Please remove the Magic Academy banner from the Links section.
Also please remove the Mana Well Castle and the Pigball Court when it's not used anymore, since my quests are over.

The reason I've decided to leave is partialy because the streets of Illarion are filled with many idiots nowadays, and many with stupid reasons to act stupid. Seems most of the english base of roleplayers have lost their place or retreated from Illarion most of the time, and most of the german base of roleplayers usually do their roleplay away from the town, making Illarion and it's town rather lacking in roleplay atmosphere.

The main reason I'm leaving of course is the impact caused by the new magic system.
My feelings on all this is that they made a decision without having enough infomation first, and without weighing the pros and the cons. I feel a sense of being blamed and forsaken by them. I feel a sense of over pride from them although we owe them for making this game. I feel a lack of consideration for the impact on the characters that have shaped the background roleplay atmosphere in the world of Illarion, and a lack of willingness to find other solutions. At least they didn't bother to respond to my alternate solution or comment on what they thought of my observations anyways.

~My apologies to those involved or waiting to see Dyluck's story unfold. There's a lot of things I wanted to do but can't really do some of them anymore. At least not the way I wanted. Maybe another time or another story.

~My apologies to anyone who is a part of the Magic Academy. You may do with your titles what you wish. I don't know what to say about those who loss their magic and the Academy being gone. I don't have a rp explanation for something that wasn't caused by rp.

~My apologies to those trying to save the roleplay atmosphere in Illarion. You probably think I should stay and help hold up the fort, but I guess I'm trying to make a stand in my own way. I hope they will see that what they did doesn't help Illarion as much as they think it does.

Goodbye,
I might return someday.

#me wipes away a tear from his eye.

Yes, Dyluck, I do think that you should stay and try to hold the fort... But I won't state all the arguments here, I know that you know them and that this decision has not been made lightly and without thought.

It is sad to see you go, although we haven't met personally. I just hope you will return one day, as you said you might.

May Lady Luck guide you wherever it is that you choose to go.

It makes me really sad, to hear this from you Dyluck.
You have played a great role within Illarion.

I hope to see you again, when the new client is there and the system will be balanced more well, as now.

This make me angry:angry:
If everybody just leave Illarion it would never change. The situation is worse in the moment. But i think the Email application would help. Dont run away, show the other what good roleplay is.

Oh yes, to run away and give up is so easy, but are glad?
To stay and work for your goals is the only thing that would help really.

There are a lot good players. And only a few who destroy it. But people allways remind only the bad things. You remind the sniper how kill you much longer, than a nice evening eith a friedn in the taverne. But if everybody still run away Illarion would just went to be another Tibia.

i can't understand your decision, however i hope you come back sooner or later (rather sooner ;) ) and wish you good luck with whatever you do.
i can only ask you to try to understand the reasons for changing the workings of magic. and: if a proposal remains without a statement of bror or a GM that does not mean that we didn't read it or don't like it. i read and consider every posting on the proposal-board, the gfx-board and the main board, and trust me, i think about the proposals. and i guess bror and the others do the same.

please, not you...

I can understand your reasons, and sure you are right with some statements you mentioned...
But i think it is not right to go now, it' only a very short time till the new server comes and i think there will come much more changes.
At the moment illarion is a little bit outlaw... ok, but i believe this will change very soon...

Please think over your decision and if you go, i wish you the best on your ways...

"Shi wipes away a small tear and prays for Dyluck's soul...
May Elara guide and lighten your ways.

I will miss you master."

I am sorry to see you leave Dyluck, after all that you have been through.  Illarion needs someone like you.  If you leave, it only gets worse.  I agree, the streets are filled with killers with dumb reasons.  I do not enter Troll's Bane very much myself for this same reason.  If you do choose to leave, I quite understand your reason.  I will miss you though!  Goodbye Good Friend! :(

@martin: I understand the reason for trying to take action, but they took the wrong action which only made Illarion worse. It was a huge mistake where the negative effects completely outweighted the positive effects (if there were any).
By the way I think good communication between the Illarion's players and development team is very important.

Sorry everyone, but I didn't give up so easily. I tried many times to explain how this change would affect our community but they either didn't believe me or didn't acknowledge it.

I'm just too tired to double my efforts on holding up the roleplay atmosphere and replanning my storyline, just because they made an inconsiderate decision.

I hope my absence will further illustrate the consequences of their bad decision.

Goodbye, good friend. 'Tis a shame that there will be no more of those entertaining arguments we had... I think I lost every one, too...
Well, maybe the development team will realize everyone is leaving and do something about it. In ways, you did the right thing. Good luck.

Please keep in mind, that the staff knows that it is totally unbalanced at the moment. For a better system with flexible attributes, we need a totally new programmed server... But it will be necesary to start the account system with it. So it may take some time until the next big update (with new server version - there might come another client update in between perhaps) - but your eyes will pop out if you see the improvements.

@Damien: Of course the future brings good changes, but it'd be a shame to lose our roleplayers and background community before that long awaited day of improvement comes. They should have left it the way it was before until they could make a better change with the new server. It wasn't perfect before, but it was better than now and at least Illarion's roleplayers were still able to work decently with it

@Erdrick: Yes I do Erdrick, thanks for your "concern" ;)

Yes, Dyluck, you are right in that. But as long as we keep explaining roleplay to those who don't know what it really is, there may be SOME of them who will actually learn and enjoy it.
The planned changes for the future will include the excluding of non-roleplayers from the server. This way, there will be fewer players in the beginning too. The Community will change a little. And i bet, to a more roleplay thing.

I know that SOME people do love the new change!!  Yeah, the newbies who max their attributes so they can kill everything!!  Really, maybe only two or three people like it that are not newbies.  The newbies are taking over I tell you!!  I go into town and there are a bunch of newbie PK's who use magic and older players cant do @#$% about it.  Not really the best thing to happen is it?  Not for the older players, not for the middle players, and not for the RP. It used to be fun, it used to be peaceful, it used to be RP, it used to be safe, it used to be respectful.  And this is why alot of people have quit.  So all around, the game is going downhill.  There's no easy way to fix it, but the new magic system is a step in the WRONG direction.

It's pretty obvious now that the change in magic system has made Illarion worse.
So then why do they not undo this change?
Why not just revert back to the old system?
Do they still not realize the problems it has casued yet?
Or do they simply not care what happens to Illarion between now and the time of a new server?

1) as i mentioned it about 20000 times already: this is NOT a permanent change/system. it's temporary (as i understood it).
2) undo the change would mean to state, that it should be allowed that a pure, stupid (STUPID!!!) fighter is able to handle *ALL* spells eaqually good as a *pure* magician. if you turn that around: it would mean, that a *pure* (WEAK!!!) magician should be able to deal the same amount of damage with a sword like a master fighter with superhuman strength! do you consider that *realistic*? can you mention other RPG-systems (cRPG, online-rpg, p&p-systems) where it's like that? i can't.
3) this change is far from being an optimal solution.
4) "they" should be "he". "we" are not responsable and "we" can't change anything. it's "him" who can.
5) the problem now is NOT, that fighters can't cast anymore, it's that *pure* spellcasters are too strong compared to "mixed" chars.

I don't know what keeps making you think we don't know that, but we KNOW it's temporary  but so what? Is that supposed to make Illarion any better right NOW? So you don't care what happens to Illarion between now and when until you find a better solution? Illarion is a rpg and it has a world and the world needs to run and "temporary" doesn't cut it. Is the background community of Illarion supposed to play "temporary roles"? It was better off leaving it the way it was before than it is now. Can't you see your temporary solution is a problem more than a solution?

So you're saying we can't undo the change just to do a half-assed job of trying to prevent people from being good at everything? Don't you see the attempt has failed miserably and would be better off being undone?
What have you accomplished? I can still create a character with max intellegence, max strength, max dexterity, and max agility. A pure stupid fighter can STILL cast all the spells!
Your one small tiny step towards the right idea is also a big huge step that's plunged Illarion into disaster. Do you understand you have to weigh the pros and the cons before you do something!

All that the new magic system has accomplished was bringing more trouble upon Illarion and making it harder to deal with PKs and newbies, or do you deny that? But then again I don't expect you to know the answer to that since you've only watched from the outside martin.

I agree, this temporary "solution" has done nothing but trouble.  More and more now I see powergamed newbies casting many fields around town just to annoy people.  They max their intelligence, agility, and essence, so they know that nobody can do anything about it.  What are the EXPERIENCED mages to do in this situation?  Ra-pen them to death?  They just want to take advantage of everyone else.

Martin:  You think that we haven't devoted our lives to being a mage?  Just because we didn't max our intelligence like powergamers doesn't mean that we haven't devoted our lives to magic.

You think I made my character saying "I know that Bror will change the system one day, so I better decide my role before I create a character"?  You cant expect people to do that!  I made my character while I was uncertain, but if you look at my stats they are clearly that of a mage.  I didn't come to this game saying "I will be Astral the Grand Mage".  Trust me, I would give anything to prove that I am not devoted to being a "mixed" character.  I do not spend MONTHS training to fight like I *did* while I was becoming a mage.  I dont think that you can even consider my fighting skills that of "mixed" character.  I cant fight worth a darn, and now I cant cast worth a darn.  I was about 85% mage, 10% fighter, and 5% other.  But now I am about 40% mage, 5% fighter, and 55% other.  See the change?

And you think that we meant to play "stupid" mages (since that's what you call us)?  I would do anything to get my spells back, and I think I am deserving, playing the role for MONTHS and getting experienced.  Only I dont think having my character deleted and making a new one with the same name is a very good solution.  That is even worse roleplay, yet still people are forced to either do this, or quit with that character.  And I do not feel like quitting with Astral.  At least not until this is settled.  The only reason I stay now is the promise that this system will be eventually replaced by something MUCH BETTER.

And some thanks to Bror (I think) he has made a few more changes to this to make it easier on us.  Is it just me, or is it harder now to cast the spells?  This was one of my proposals on some board, and if it is now changed, thanks.  This does make it easier on us.  If it really hasn't been changed, I take this back.
