No, everybody have to live with the "facts" from his birth, you too.

There is no roleplay reason and sense to change your character abilities.

I knew this would come.
In order to improve your own Roleplay please read what Moonsilver said about Dwarfs.

But i will quote you the most important Part:
Dwarves are not very interested in magic, except for Rune crafting magic.
It would be better if you would not try to play a "Master Mage Dwarf", except you have a very good reason for it. (No, "cool" is not a Reason.)

P.S.:
If you find any Typos, you can keep them. I have plenty of them stored back here.

I do have a reason. he was raised by humans and was properly educated.

And a quote from Illarion's 'races' section.
Small, stocky and impolite. Dwarfs love heavy armor and weapons, especially axes, and everything made of gold. They are proud of their beardsand hate magic.
That is how dwarves are in my opinion supposed to be like!
I WOULD want to meet a rune-crafter dwarf though, not (yet again) a dwarven 1337-k3wl fireball-thrower.

All informations you need are written down on the illarion web page your problem, if you forgot to read the website carefully. Your mistake, your guilt, your problem.

It would be very unfair for all other folks, who have ask the same question to make here an exception.

And again, where is the roleplay reason- sense to change the mind and abilities from your char?
Rpg doesn´t mean to modify the abilities from your char how it fits, and only because you made a mistake in the past during the creation.

That´s life, nobody can decide with "what" he/she will be born.

then why do they give a choice when you create a char. so you can choose how your born in illarion. And look at the advice button, it din't say it will restrict what Kind of spell you can use. Anything else you want to say?

1. Yes, you do have the option to make your character like that. However, some might find it strange to see a dwarf that is involved in magic.

2. You can't change your stats. You don't have a good enough reason. "I want to change my stats because I don't know spells" is not a good reason.

Besides, just name one game where magic is not directly related to intelligence...

or perhaps you involuntarily just wanted to make him like yourself?

What are you trying to infer? that i'm an idiot? I just wanted to play a mage and now you are questioning intelligence in real life. If you want to knw, i'm a strait A student in high school.

knw = know
i'm = I'm
strait = straight

If I were you I would just create a new character. We really don't need another dwarf or halfling master mage. Use a human or Elf if you want a master mage.

I can't start a new char! people know me and I worked so hard for him to be how he is now. I also have friends, if i start a new char i can't just say "I used to be maktan so lets be friends." I would have to be a stranger all over again.

Well unfortunately they are your only options. New char or no change.

OK then if you don't want a new character, keep your dwarf the way he should be. no magic.

The way you talk about keeping the same friends and such, it sounds like you are mixing IC and OOC stuff.

Look at yourself, Maktan, you're a typical image of a bad RP'er...

There are rules for role playing, which make it so you cant just have aliens come down and kill a cow or silly things like that. They govern the way things work and give balance to worlds.

In this case you have a dwarf - the strongest race, and you want him to be master mage aswell... that would imballance the way things work. One of the reasons for why Dwarfs typically dont do magic is because they instead rely on their strength. Same goes for elves, they usually preffer magic to physical dammage due to their higher intelligence.

Secondly, it is well known that Dwarfs tend to loathe magic, as it is inconsistent with their very stubborn view on how things are and should be. Like the rock they love so much, dwarfs like things that are reliable, steadfast and such.

But of course, you disagree with this, and want to bulldoze through with your own views on what YOUR dwarf is and should be. This is more or less a hint that you would do the same with role playing, quite possibly twisting other people's roles to fit your own, and defying everything you disagree with even slightly. As you can see, this is a hugely egomaniacal way of playing a game that is afterall fitted according to the people that play it. Instead of being a contributor and add to the gaming experience, you want to bash it all down, and replace it with what fits you so you can be the hero.

Well then, if this is how you feel, why dont you just go play Baldur's gate or even better form your own cult`in worship of yourself and walk around chanting whilst bashing your head with a piece of wood?

Hey missrack(misspelled on purpose) nice comment(sarcastic)
Fine, then if I'm not to have magic is it possible that all i put on intelligence go to my strength?(just what all of you wanted a stupid dwarf)

As stated before:

There is no way for you to Change the Stats of your Character after his Creation to your (ever changing Desire).

Anyway, you said you cant understand spells, so i doubt you put much Points in Intelligence, these Points are not the Problems.

Dwarfs are not dumb, they just dont like Magic.

Did you get this now?
