I searched and searched and didnt find so I will post this idea....To prevent these jerks who attack and then log off to protect themselves I say when you hit the Esc key your Char. should stay in game for like a minute just standing there...I always related the logging off with like going to sleep or taking a nap...so I figure it would take some time to actually pass out ya know....and if someone was fighting and logged off their char. would sit there and be vunerable....at least the people logging off would then at least hide first...and if this has been proposed before someone please stick a link up so I can read it...thanks

It's also annoying when people log out right after stealing

We are aware of the problem and we know a lot of possible solutions (from thinking about it, discussion and from experience of other games).
Our conclusion is that anything that works like or similar to this proposal does cause other problems which weight much more than these "loggers".

There is the same complainment in german and I gave there a hint to two older topics about the same subject, where were such things discussed, like you proposed (I think, most of them in german).
The current solution was, if you see someone logging in fight several times, you can mail him to violations@illarion.org or can post his logging on the generalboard, so that other know about this person and are able to have an eye on him (like John Irenicus just did there person logging in fight)

I am highly against that idea as their are times one needs to log out quickly for out of game reasons. I know when it occurs when i play tibia i find it very annoying. Just my opinion

But that would be creating bad RP at the same time. Someone says "farewell" and they just stand there for a minute? And what if someone comes into the screen and tries talking to the person? Its too messy :?

That's why a person should only be punished if they do it several times. That may be a good excuse once or twice but not several times.

You should be able to log off immediately for your real life thing going off...illarion would shut down...but your char would still be in the d\game...just kinda..sitting there...leaving you vunerable for a short period of time

sure, but some people would take this as an advantage (thieves, murderers)
and just kill you whan you cant operate anymore.

Furtheron, it wouldnt really help, since if a thief runs away and logs of,
even if he stays in, he can't give the stoeln goods back anyway
nor talk to followers...

We all DO live in a RL world where there are RL interferences...I disagree with this proposal because as has been said one cannot not always control what happens to you in RL and oftentimes there is need to leave illarion...Simply put, the problems that would come with this proposal outweight greatly the hinderance it would give the "loggers".

i like the 1 minute thingy, but, for the people who arent logging off in bad ways, maybe if there is not a person in you screen, you can log off instantly, as most people dont sleep next to somebody hammering.

Also, what happens if your internet goes down? No one would know that you weren't on anymore because your char would still be there. The bad things still outweigh the good.

No, he said it was bad roleplay to run up to me and say, "That is his other character."

And what exactly is wrong with casting in town? We are turning into Amn!

well aparently he had reason too as it WAS and ooc problem, PROBLEM, disconnected, ok, technical problems, let it slide, But when somebody deliberately logs off then logs on a different character, I think thats abusing logging out and bad rp.

I don't mind casting so much. It is only when the flames are everywhere and you can't see where you are going.

I'm sure there was no disconnection. The character said, "Hey!" Then logged out. He then logged on another character and waited for the other character that was attacking him to leave.
