I've checked Technical FAQ and a problem looked like this but those thigs were in order..... I searched the boards and I couldn't find an answer
Well anyway when I try to log-in my screen turns totally black and I can only move my mouse.... In a different post It says that it might be cause the server was down however.. People were online. And then could it be cause my account hasn't been activated yet?

does your screen turn off? try using the previous version of your gfx driver.

No it doesn't turn off,I just turns black (same as when it's off). However I can still use my mouse but there's no point cause I can't do anything...

If you press alt and the mouse-representative-thingy turns into a wand, that is because the server has crashed, generally.

Well I used to have this problem sometimes. For me running norton system check would fix it. It had something to do with my active x controlers. Also SOMETIMES just restarting your machine would fix it to.

If the server is down, you might still see the status line say "online" because there is a certain time gap between the status checks. If the server goes down right after one check, the site won't tell it until the next one.

I understand that you did already check if your client is unpacked correctly and launch it from the executable itself, not a self-made shortcut. Then the only reason for such behaviour I know of is that the server was really down when you tried to log in.

So your sayin if there is a black screen and all the files are there and your not using a shortcut this means it is because you cant log in until you have been accepted? So when I get accepted the black screen will go away? Cause all I can see is my mouse. Do you have to have a graphics card accelerater or does any basic video card work like on tibia or runescape or astonia or is it like everquest?

Any basic video card should work. But it must support DirectX.

Well my screen is black and I can only see my mouse and move it around a bit...However I used to be able to log-in but that's not working anymore too.My screen stays black now until I shut Illarion..... I think mycard is compatible with DX seeing I managed to log in a few times however I couldn't move or anything

Egh.....*whimpers at thought of asking stupid question*

Okay, I have a similar situation. Black screen once I log into Illarion, and all I can see is the mouse cursor. It moves, yeah, but that doesn't do anything. And when I push ctrl + alt + del, it shows up saying Illarion client is not responding. I have DirectX, and I'm pretty sure my video card is fine for it. Also, I'm running on Windows98.

Happens to me too, from time to time... No idea why, just try to log in again and it should work. It's maybe some "undocumented feature" which happens on certain hardware/ software combinations.
