Hallo zusammen!

Ich bin täglich in Trollsbane und ich sehe viele Dinge, die mich zweifeln machen das auch nur 50% aller Spieler eine Ahnung davon haben was Rollenspiel überhaupt ist.

Die meisten Gespräche sind ingame-fremd, OOC, oder hat man im Mittelalter Dinge wie "Systems" "Connections" usw gekannt? Ich sage hier nicht das das mich ausschliesst, auch ich lasse mich viel zu oft von solchen Gesprächen anstecken und verderbe mir selbst und Anderen damit das Spiel.

Ich sehe wie einige versuchen den Handel und den Wert mancher Gegenstände die Handwerker  in grossem Arbeitsaufwand herstellen anzukurbeln, und im gleichen Moment ein anderer an "neue" eben angekommene Spieler eine komplette Ritter Ausrüstung im Wert von mehreren Silberbarren verschenkt, nur weil sie vielleicht mit einem Anderen Char, der Betreffenden Person dahinter, bekannt sind oder dergleichen.

Ich sehe wie neue Spieler kommen, fragen stellen wie zb: "Wie funktioniert das Spiel; Wie kämpfe ich; usw." Man erklärt es Ihnen und als Dank rennen sie rum und attackieren jeden der nichts dagegen tut, soll man den alle töten?

Ich sehe Leute die an ein Lagerfeuer kommen; und solche die versuchen ihre Rolle zu spielen mit Sachen wie "Hallo was macht ihr da, was gibts, ich bin der zweitchar von blabla, usw" aus dem Konzept bringen, und ihnen damit die Lust nehmen weiter zu machen. Ist es zuviel  verlangt wenn man um einen Moment der Ruhe oder Geduld bittet, da man gerade einer Geschichte lauscht oder Probleme beredet? Oder weil man einfach versuchen will das OOC zu überhören? Nicht zu reagieren?

Illarion ist eine Insel, die Zeit dort ist das Mittelalter, nicht jeder war damals ein grossartiger Krieger, Heeresführer oder Ritter, nicht jeder adelig und von höherem Geschlecht, was ist mit den Bauern, den Handwerkern, den Bäckern usw. In Illarion ist es schwer genau so eine Rolle zu spielen, weil es in letzter Zeit immer schwieriger wird bei der Arbeit nicht!! angegriffen zu werden. Was ist mit solchen die eine Rolle als Bauer spielen wollen, er wird sich nicht mit Waffen und Training beschäftigen, und dann... er baut sein Feld an und wartet das der Weizen wächst, zeitgleich wird er von einem Komischen hinterhältig Attackiert und getötet, und das nur als Dank!! weil er nie Powergaming gemacht und seine "Skills" trainiert hat...

Wie ihr alle aus diesem Posting entnehmen könnt, sofern es jemand ausgelesen hat, bin ich nicht sehr begeistert über die Zustände die teilweise (und immer öfter) herrschen. Ich möchte hiermit jeden Anhalten mal darüber nachzudenken was er von einem Rollenspiel erwartet, bzw wie er sich das Mittelalter vorstellt, zum "Skillup" zur " EXP jagt" zum grundlos töten gibt es genug Grafik-Online-Games, macht Illarion nicht zu einem!
Ich habe es satt, alte Spieler gehen zu sehen, nur weil sie über die Zustände die hier vorliegen Enttäuscht sind, und seit Sicher, ich werde auch nicht aufhören etwas dagegen zu unternehmen.

Im daily in Trollsbane and i see a lot of things there, and the most of them make me doubt about that 50% of all players know what Roleplay means.

The most talks are not game relevant, OOC, or do you think words like " System" or "Connections" were known in the old times? I dont say that im EVER only talk about ingame things, but i know than i disturb others with my OOC, and so i try to wishper it or do it in ICQ or other messangers. Cause the one who try to Roleplay are really not intressted in my RL Problems or meanings!

I see People who try to build an better trade company in Trollsbane and make the things/items, wich been build in a lot of work,  more worth. And in the same moment another player gives a whole Knights set and/or other items to a "fresh/new" Player who comes straight out of the Libary, and why? Cause he maybe know another Char of the person behind, or maybe The Person behind.. is this roleplay?

I see new Player, they come and ask for help in this game like " How do i trade, How do i attack, How do i Smith..." And as their "Thanks" They attack everybody on sight! What should we do, kill them? No.

I see people wich standing around a camp fire, talking, laughting, make roleplay. And others come "Hello what are you doing here, im the new char of blabla, i want to know what u talk... etc." And if somebody said " Oh sorry we are during a privat talk.." or something else, no reaction, they go further to bother the ones or disturb with stupid things like "play an instrument, or cast some magic around.." Is this roleplay? Me for my part, i always try not to listen to OOC when i talk to friends..

Illarion is an Island, the Time is Middel Age, not every person in this time was a great Knight, a powerful Mage, a honouress Warrior, not everybody was nobel. What about the backers, farmers, the woodworkers etc:  I told you. In Illarion its hard to play such a role, cause its hard not to die! Do you know a farmer that is good in sword fighting? Or in other fighting things,.. me not. And if i plant a field of what ever and become killed by anybody, who thinks its funny to kill everybody, and the farmer died... his prize for NO POWERGAMING and no training.....


You can all read that im not amused about the things that every day happen in Trollsbane. This post is to think about, ask yourself what u think about rolepolay, what roleplay means for you! For "Skillup" and/or " Exp-hunt" there are enought other Grafikal-online-Games, dont try to make Illarion to one of them.
Im tiered to see older Player (roleplayer) are going, cause they sad about all those things, and be sure i dont go, and i will watch again, and dont stop handling to bring Illarion back to the right way of Roleplay.

That is right, things are as Cosma says. That is the reason why we want an account system ASAP. That means, when our both programmers have some free time after finishing their studies, they may (with enough free time) start on working on something like that.

To all those people who don't care about roleplay, or who think that roleplaying is training skills and becoming the best-jack-of-all-trades :
Listen to what Cosma says. Learn to roleplay now. Read the world background and the server rules. Because when the account application system will be introduced, those who cannot or do not want to roleplay, will not be able to play illarion anymore.
I did my best talking to people and explaining "roleplaying", at least our definition of roleplaying, to those who did not understand. The most reactions i got, were attacks and ooc cussing, and it was a little frustrating to see most of these guys getting banned after hours of explaining.

Leider mus ich dir dadrin recht geben. Ich möchte jetzt nicht über andere mekern, ich selber bin erst seit kurzen dabei und mache oft fehler aber ich gebe mir mühe.

Wenn es schon mal ein  occ gespräch gibt dann flüster ich zumindest und schriebe es in ((blablabla)) Klammern.
Ich bin hier um eine rolle zu spielen und nicht um etliche Monster oder spieler zu Killen (für sowas gibt es spiele wie Diablo).

Aber ich  hoffe das die Email anmeldung die eingeführt wird zumindest etwas abhilfe schafft.
Vorläufig denke ich aber müssten die gms härter durchgreifen.
Damit meine ich nicht jeden zu verbannen der mal ooc spricht oder einen Anfänger der fragt "wie dieses spiel geht".  Sondern ihn bei seite nehmen und es ihm sagen (das können auch alle anderen spieler) und wenn er nicht aufhört ihn zb mit einen Skillentzug bestraffen oder (wenn es technich möglich ist) ihnen für kurze zeit das sprechen sperren.
Es sol keine kritik an die gms sein, ich weis das sie viel zu tun haben und finde das sie ihre arbeit gut machen aber leider gibt es immernoch zuwenig.

Vieleicht wer es möglich sowas wie spielhelfer einzuführen die man während des spiel rufen kann (wie bei Tibia). Die zwar ein wenig mehr rechte haben und sich von anderen spieler im aussehen oder ein einfachen namens zusatzt unterscheiden als andere, aber immer noch kein gm status besitzen

Well, as I've mentioned before, give em time.  I had some really really bad none rp experiences before.  Most of these people will learn how to rp in time, but the others are just worth deleting.  Give them some time as an evaluation time period and decide later.  I don't think its quite fair just to delete someone because they're new to this type of rp system...

 Thanks Damien and Cosma you both of your statements were true.  However it reminded me of when I first came here.  I had never played a role-playing game like this one before and the only instructions I had were on the pop-up when you open the Illarion Client.  The thing that stuck out to me was to have a role-playing name.  I tried bit I could not think of a good role-playing name.  I decided I must find a good name.  I went to my favoraite book called "The Golden Compass" or another one in the trilogy; a really good book kind of in Midevil times but not really.  There were really good names in it anyway.  I flipped to my favoraite page where a buglike character named Roke follows a spy into the air machine fighter thingy.  Alas! my name was born.

 I also had questions about "how to play Illarion" but I had read the tutorial and the manual which helped me.  My stupidest question I think was how to do the #me things.  Most of my other questions were about where stuff was and what to do with some stuff.  These types of questions can be answered in role-play so Quain and others had no trouble or problem answering.  Thanks to the manual and the people I think I roleplay pretty well although there still is room for improvement.  

 I think if people read the tutorial and everything written on Illarion  even if they don't read the background storry they will be okay.  However people are either to lazy or they think this is a hack-and-slash game like my friend.  He did not attack everyone but he got bored so he quit.  I was disapointed thinking he would have had fun role-playing but he did not but I would rather see somone quit  then kill everyone in site.  Thanks everyone.

@cosma: what you describe here is known to me from all online-rpg's i've ever played (tibia should be mentioned first, since it seems to me as if it was the most ooc-ing rpg i ever experienced...). there has to be changed something, and i don't believe that the developers or the gamemasters play the biggest role during this change.
tell those who seem to be unable to play illarion the way it's meant to be to leave; if they don't, report it to someone who has the power to delete (aka bror ) or banish someone. no mercy for asholes and associal psychopaths.

@ishans schatten: GMs are currently not able to banish characters. we are only able to create annoying shopkeepers running after someone or to create walls or trees. i think that won't hinder anyone to leave his role and start ooc-ing.

just report those who don't behave like they should to a GM or bror (are there e-mail-adresses of us mentioned on the page? i'm not sure 'bout that, i'll check it out). i'm convinced that it's easy for you to figure out my ICQ-number (just ask someone you trust).

I tottaly agree with you cosma it is sad thou i also try to get people to roleplay more to no avail. But what can we do untill new system comes into play nothing much probably but i do not want to rush the programers because it scares me to think about all the people who whine to them to make this game better and to delete so and so,because the more they whine the more i think that one day the programers will get fed up and delete our whole world so i just wish everyone would buck up roleplay more and so on and so on. But i have found out that not ALL newbies are bad like i met a xanatos i think his name was and when he started talking ooc when i was by the fire with gurok he caught right on and started using () right then. It made me so happy ^_^ but what can i say i was no better a roleplayer than most pk's when i first came unto illarion but i am happy that people tolerated me ; P and had me as a friend for after a time of hack and slash i got bored and watched others and how much fun they had roleplaying and i joined them and now it is more of a joy to play this game.
but there are always those who come to bring choas to our fair land but what can we do but ask nice and delete them.....nothing for one cannot have peace without war and love without hate.So i want to thank everyone who makes this game what it is and tries ti make it better.me right now i try to do what i can but sadly it isnt much.....

i also have prob with newb because they always ask that and that in ooc way:( but i try too help them role play stile but its often very hard too acomplish but after they have learned how too play the game i hope they start too role play

Ich hab die meisten Antworten nicht gelesen da mein englisch miserabel ist (und mein deutsch auch aber da habe ich wenigstens manschmal den eindruck das mich jemand versteht *ggg*). Möchte erstmal sasen das ich cosma 100% zustimme jedoch neben dem berufs auch noch das rassen typische Verhalten einwerfen möchte. So gibt es viel zu viele nahkampf Elfen die nach macht gieren und silber horten,... oder fischende un zaubernde zwerge (ich weiß asche über mein Haupt),.... oder golschmiedende und handelnde orks,..... oder oder oder..... der effekt dadurch ist das die einzelnden Rassen bis auf ihr aussehen kaum zu unterscheiden sind, hierzu rate ich übrings jedem der sich nicht wirklich endscheinden kan einen menschen zu spielen da die ja dafür bekannt sind nichts wirklich gut und nichts wirklich schlecht zu können,... man sollte vielleich auch andecken eine bessere rassen erklärung für illarion abzugeben da gerade in diesem berreich die meinnungen sehr weit auseinander gehen,.....

Also es gibt schon Rassenbeschreibungen, bisher sind sie auf der Storyseite erst in Englisch eingebaut, weil sie neu gemacht wird... aber wir arbeiten daran...link unten..

No, I mean, it says Orc/Orks, then goes on to describe dwarves. Change Orks to Dwarves.

I totally agree with cosma,  im a beginner like ishan too, but i try to follow the rules of the game and to act some roleplay....
I making errors, i know, but i try to get better in this...


@Gandela: ich weiß, dass "nahkampfelfen vielleicht nicht zur Normalität werden sollten, aber warum sollte es unter den Elfen nun mal keine Nahkämpfer geben? Ich denke , wenn man die Rolle auch SPIELEN kann, dann kann so was in ordnung sein...
Vorraussetzung ist wie gesagt das Rollenspiel, denn darum geht es ja hier... und nicht um kämpfe- daher ist ein "nakampfelf" oder ein "Nahkampfzwerg" sowieso etwas fehl am platz...

Wäre freundlich, wenn jemand den Absatz an Gandela ins Englische übersetzen könnt, da dafür mein Englisch nicht mehr ausreichte...

Groldan Gnamus ist ein zwergischer Runenmeister,also ein zwergischer magier der Runen heraufbeschwört.Er zeichnet sie in den Boden und sonstiges und spricht dann den richtigen Fers.Runenmagie ist die Magie der Zwerge,da sie sicherer als die "wilde" Magie der menschen oder Elben ist.

Zu dem will ich noch sagen,das es durchaus auch Goldschmiedende und Handelnde Orks gibt,es gibt immer ausnahmen.Es gibt auch wilde Elbenstämme,die vielleicht keine Magie verwenden,sondern auf ihr Schwert vertrauen,oder Bögen garnicht kennen.Illarion hat eine besondere Eigenschaft,nähmlich die,seinen Charakter frei zu gestalten.In vielen Spielen ist man eben auf die Klischées festgelegt,das heisst es gibt keine zaubernden zwerge oder ähnliches.

Die meisten.vorallem die neuen,verstehen das konzept nicht und denken,illarion ist wie Tibia oder sonstiges.Ich bin jedoch froh,das Illarion NICHT wie Tibia ist.Ich finde es gut das sich hier viele für die Förderung des Rollenspiels einsetzen und Bror auch bereit ist,bei guten Stories,Avatars zu ändern oder Gebäude zu zerstören etc.

Zudem kommt,das Illarion nicht kommerziell ist,was vielen Spielern Eintritt gewährt.Diese Spieler machen dann,wie oben schon gesagt,Unfug.Ich kenne viele die schon gelöscht wurden und die meisten machen sich nichtmal was draus.

Fazit:Wenn man hier einen Charakter hat,sollte man die Rolle ernst nehmen und so spielen,wie man es gerne mag,hauptsache das Konzept wird nicht übersehen und man hat eine schöne zeit mit netten leuten in Illarion.

ich glaube, das driftet in die falsche richtung.
es geht gar nicht darum, ob jetzt ein elf de bogen A oder den bogen B verwendet, ob ein zwerg nun einen zauberspruch wirkt oder ein echsenmensch auf hirschjagd geht. das sind feinheiten.
viel eher gehts ums grobe: quatsche ich dauernd bloed OOC (Out Of Character, also nicht spielinternes wie zb. ueber die neueste graphikkarte oder quake 4 oder aber auch ueber den tollen lord of the rings part 2, den man gerade vom ftp saugt aber auch ueber den tollen skillbalken fuer silbe Y) rumfasle, ob ich dauernd versuche, andere zu killen oder ob meine hauptambition darin liegt, moeglichst schnell irgendeinen skill zu maxen.
das sind die sachen, die es zu vermeiden gilt (niemand sagt etwas, wenn man an einem stillen oertchen kurz erwaehnt, dass matrix 2 ein saugeiler film wird und die pruefung gestern total in die hose gegangen ist, aber man tut das vielleicht nicht, wenn gerade 34 andere charaktaere neben einem herumstehen und zulesen...).

also:
* kein sinnloses herumkillen (aka random-pk)
* kein stures skill-maxen (aka PG)
* kein sinnloses ich-kann-tausend-drachen-in-20-minuten-killen-und-den-schnitt-halte-ich-ueber-6-stunden-taeglich
* (moeglichst) kein ooc, schon gar kein geschimpfe, gefluche etc. (darunter fallen auch alltaegliche woerter wie "smile", "motherfucker" etc., manche haben das vielleicht vergessen)
* kein bugusen

stattdessen stellt euch einfach vor, ihr seid wirklich die person, die ihr zu verkoerpern versucht, reagiert so, wie sie reagieren wuerde etc. wenns keinen spass macht, ist illarion vermutlich das falsche spiel.
abgesehn davon koennt ihr euch alle nuetzlich machen, indem ihr vorschlaege sammelt und postet, am besten moeglichst gut ausgereift und wenn ihr ganz tolle hechte seid auch so, dass es nicht allzu schwer ist, das technisch umzusetzen. und wer sich ueberhaupt beliebt machen will, der versucht sich an graphiken (und wendet sich vertrauensvoll an mich).

ich finde zb. das aktuelle kampfsystem (auch das spellcastingsystem!) nicht ueberragend gut. wer vorschlaege hat: immer her damit!

Ich wollte nur anmerken, daß die Änderung des Avatars zwar durch mich ausgelöst wird, aber von den GMs vorbereitet und an mich weitergegeben. Von den Stories dahinter weiß ich selten etwas. Gebäude zerstören geschieht sogar ganz ohne mein Wissen. Der Dank gebührt also den aktiven GMs.
