Hidden number; a bit different...

If cloaks seem a bit too much when it comes to hiding your number, I suggest that a player can see ones number; but only if the player you are seeking is facing sideways or in front of you (in the screens perspective). If they're looking at your back, it's a bit hard to tell who it is, considering the monotonous haircuts and the cloaks from the Middle Ages...

There also wouldn't be much of a PK problem because it would be rather difficult for one to get away without turning, or moving a certain direction. Not everybody is a fast hopper, after all....

Not to mention, it would also help some the thieves, assassins, and necromancers to keep a low profile in the bustling town...better roleplaying! :D

Also, how come you can see the numbers of ghosts? I don't see how this is realistic, but with roleplaying, I guess it can be, as I have done several times... :?

Agreeably this is common sense. But pkers are not good roleplayers, so they won't even face who they snipe, and with their back to their victim they can log off without having their number seen.
I doubt there will ever be a way of hiding your number.

How about adding a number, based on height, weigh, age, which can be used in game, which can be concealed, and the numbers we have now are for entirely ooc use, like identifying a pker. That is the only way I see of reasonably roleplaying around the problem.

Numbers are also used for roleplaying reasons.
Since all characters look alike, they are used in place of a description for someone who you don't know their name.

If a person is a good roleplayer though they will not use the entire number when describing someone but leave one or two out.

No one can remember every detail of a person.

Also if you tell your name to someone you should use #i. I have had people tell me their name and when I ask them to ((#i)) they refuse. Naturally my character will remember that person the next time they are seen so they should use #i.

there is nothing worse than picking a fight with a stronger person, this idea would make it much harder to assassin people, since you might attack a stronger person. However I do agree with this idea, it seems like a fair and it does promote RP

Just as a side note pkers are not always bad roleplayers!!!

The term pk is used here in this game for someone killing the char of another person without any reason and therefore it is poor or simple no roleplay.
As the word said, it is the player who likes to kill chars of other players and not the char itself, who has a reason to kill another char.

Is PK really used that way? I believe PKer means one who kills another player: Player Killer.... whether there is a direct reason or not.

In Illarion a PKer is one who kills without reason.

Yes, I know that PKers stands for Player Killer, but in Illarion it is confined to the use of someone killing for no reason, breaking the server rules.
