This is more than a prank...

Xerake writes angrily, a quick message on the town walls...

The monsters! The creatures, the beasts! Where did they all go?

I heard some idiotic human dragged them into a forest somewhere...this is much more than a prank. My career includes hunting, and I'm sure tailors will suffer as well, considering that they can't get free thread or leather, let alone wool.

As for me, I need to hunt. I need food, and I've yet to see a bit of blood lately.

Whoever knows the location of the beasts best tell Trollsbane, or suffer the consequences...

The beasts seem to have hidden, or left the area, or perhaps fled from someone - or SOMETHING.
We must find out what is happening. For doing so, i suggest people to form expeditions, and seek out every place where animals or monsters have been.

Last time I checked the last resorts of creatures were the spider cave and demon isle, although they may have been cleared since then.

by Aragon
Aragon comes back, hungry and thirsty from a long walk over the iland.

The only place, where I have found monsters are in the spidercave in the northwest. In each other place, there was a quiteness, no sounds of birds, no sounds of animals, no sounds of living ... only the trees and the grass are shaking in the wind and the sea is thundering against the beach.
It is the sound of silence or like a deep breath and rest before the storm begins.
I think, I should go back to the ceremonial cave and pray to Malachin.
And I invite all citizens to pray to their gods, too.
There is a need of prayers in our times.

Viola reads the posts while chewing on her lower lip.

She has been concerned about the disappearance of the dark creatures for several days now. She fears they have been gathered for some evil purpose. The prospect that they were scared away frightens her even more now.

Quickly the halfling gathers her hiking pack and walks through the quiet woods to the Holy Ring of Trees. She makes an offering of fruits, cabbages and breads to Oldra and seeks her advise.

I have had someone looking around but as yet have heard nothing. All the creatures seem to of disapeared except the ones in the spider cave. I heard a rumour of a ship seen near the jetty south west of the pig field though I have had no comformation of this. Even if true I dont know if it is connected with the strange happenings.
If it were just the evil creatures that had disapeared the rumours of them massing for an attack would make more sense, though they make strange bedfellows. Why have the pigs and sheep gone though? Perhaps for food.
I also have heard a meeting place has been discovered far to the north of the island. Who meets here and what they are meeting about so far from town I have yet to discover.
I shall keep my ear to the ground and suggest you all do the same. Someone somewhere knows something. Perhaps the foundation have heard something?

Lotho who sits in the woods and who is also praying to Oldra, turns his head to see Viola. With a quick wave, he continues to eat some bread...

"I hope I can locate the pigs soon.."

Lotho says to himself.

Late at night Freo walks to the town boards, to see the recent happenings. For several moments he reads the messages left by other trollsbanians. Upon finishing, Freo turns and walks back into the dark forest mumbling in rapid elvish to himself

Malinne has already heard of the news and begins to stress as she is reminded.

My head! I need... I need... No! Why have they gone away...

She falls to her knees and covers her head.

I need them to... I can't help the urge! I just can't help it!

She coughs and drinks a potion for her head and her cough hoping not to vomit. With a deep breath and a sigh of relief she stands and weakly stumbles away to find a place to rest.

I must train to get my strength back...

It was reported that three sheep were located southeast of Trollsbane. However the person that saw them, did not kill them. He simply walked by the area, and noticed them. They were trapped between a ring of rocks. I have a feeling that this could of been done by someone. An elf was caught around a day ago, moving bugs to the north of Trollsbane. If anyone else has seen something close to what has already happend, please let everyone know. If you can, contact me. Thank you...

Why would anyone kill sheep?

Malinne sleeps restlessly and wakes up to find she did not manage to wander very far from the wall. She looks around sees nothing.

I could have swore I heard something...

[/i]She looks up and sees the most recent message still dripping with moisture.[/i]

Hmm... a warning? There have been a lot of strange things going on... Is something bad going to really happen? Great timing if this is so...

Frustrated, Malinne sighs, getting up to walk to her favorite hiding place behind a glass oven where she decides to rest a little more.

There have been people who have killed sheep in the past. An elf was mumbling, "Fluffy! Fluffy!" The elf began to slaughter as many sheep as he could. A tailor once said that he had to kill the sheep, in order to obtain some wool. All he needed though, was a pair of scissors.

by Sir Gannon
Reads the messages and sighs. Then walks over to a depot in the mining area and starts putting on his armor. Then starts to make himself a few potions. Then Gannon stops as he starts walking out of town. Gannon then walks back to the board to put up a message of his own.

Be warned everyone. Something like this has happened before. I suggest you get ready for a battle like none other... It saddens me. After all this peace. ( Aside from civil wars of course. ) It is time. Do NOT think you wont be involved. You WILL be. Archers prepare your arrows. Warriors ready yourself for battle. Mages perfect your most deadly spells. The time of peace is over. The time for war is now. Aragon I also pray to Malachin. But I pray he will give us a victory in this battle. For there IS going to be one. Also another place the monsters are gathering are in the underground castle. 'Drakhens castle' as some call it. Good fortune to you all. May Malachin protect us all.

Walks off to work off some of his wine belly. So he can be somewhat usefull like he was before coming a merchant.

After hearing the message, Lotho runs to his favorite forest area. Reaching in his bag, he eats an apple pie. Lotho gathers some wood, looking down south at Trollsbane. Throwing the wood down, a match is lit. A fire is soon in Lotho's eyes. He lays down, and closes his eyes...

"I shall stay here for a long while..." Lotho whispers.

Malinne simply cannot sleep due to all the thoughts lingering in her mind.

Well, I guess this means we just wait around then. I should flee considering I couldn't survive anything more dangerous than everyday life, but I will not... I can help heal anybody who is caught up in any kind of brawl that I witness.

by Alnerith Dencort
Alnerith reads the messages, then pauses thinking and nods knowingly, he quickly writes a message

For a while i've been telling people to start prepareing for a war, i didn't do this because i'm involved in anything but because of what i've heard. A couple days ago i was walking through the forest and i heard voices, i quickly hid under a tree. I never did see anyone but i heard them talking of an assault upon Trollsbane. And after the animals dissapearing i started telling people that i suspected an upcoming war, and that they should prepare for it. They ridiculed me saying i was parinoid and i was just trying to get attention. But after what you have said hopefully people will heed the warnings and prepare.

Blacksmiths make armor and weapons, Glassmakers make glass bottles to either fill your self with potions or sell to powerful druids, Druids start making potions and sell them, if you can or will for cheaper, Mages practice your magic so it doesn't fail you in a crutial position, Gold crafters make rings to sell, Warriors practice on eachother if you must ((it shouldn't be called powergaming because of the absense of the animals)) and all other citizens of Trolls bane prepare and help in anyway you can...
Signed,
Alnerith Dencort

once satfied with his writing Alnerith quickly walks off to prepare for the worst.....[/u]

This wouldn't have anything to do with the Blackstone cult bringing Moshran back would it?

It is widely known that they are performing various rituals to bring the god back into this world.

I have spotted Bloodhearte casting fiery crosses in town, among other rituals.

Maybe these dissaperances are conected to the Blackstone cult.

I talked with him just yesterday. It seems it does.... But in what way he would not reveal. All i know are "The mirrors are glowing red" He also said something about having enough souls...

Lotho makes an angry face...

"I guess I will have to move even more. I lost an entire bag of my bread. If anyone finds it, then attempt to locate me. I will try to give you some directions. Just go..north where the mummies are. Then, you take a left. You continue walking left until you see the old shack, or house. At the time, I'm not exactly sure of what it could be. Then you head up north, you should find a large area of trees. I should be around there at times."

I don't think we should point fingers. So a few strange if not suspicious things have been said... So what? It looks as though something is already beginning and it seems that it is out of our power to prevent it. Maybe it is nothing at all. We should just be prepared, just in case.

reads the halflings note and seems shocked

I know little about this invasion.. but I believe you are near the portals are correct? Well, the army may becoming that way... you might think going to the town would be safer then being out in the wild alone.

Posted: Wed May 07, 2003 6:03 am
by Malinne
Hmm... well that depends on their destination. It also depends on what part of the wilderness one is located.

Posted: Wed May 07, 2003 6:06 am
by Lotho Green
So that is what they were. I didn't have much time to find out exactly what they do or anything. I threw a small roll in the portal, heard a small noise and ran. Thank you for your message. Maybe I will hide out in the town of Trollsbane...for now. I went there once for a little while, met a couple of drunk humans. Another halfling stole my food. Oh, and some elf was trying to cast magic on me. I'll hide at the top of the shop. No..no grass there. Which means no..food. Hmm..I'll hide in the southern forest. Again, thank you for your message.

Don't believe everything that Bloodhearte and the Blackstone Cult says.
They are just trying to credit themselves whenever some kind of phenomenon happens to try and convince people that they have unnatural powers.
Have you ever noticed that they always make "after-the-fact" claims of responsibility when something happen?

You also shouldn't believe everything you hear about "portals", especially from someone new to this island. It would benefit you to gain knowledge instead through research of old town papers and books or speaking with long time residents.

Reads the various messages, chuckles and laughs.

I appreciate the credit and everything, but seriously...you people tend to use me as a scapegoat for all of your problems.

After writing this, he almost walks away, and remembers to write an additional message.

By the way, don't enter the center of a few of the Moshran altars, unless you want your life drained.

Fellow followers: The prayer sites are in the simple red flames, NOT the center!

Also, Albernon, I never took credit for this in the first place. Sir Gannon is mistaking this for something else, notice how cryptic I was.
