bowyer skill

i think a bowyer skill would be very fun indeed. boyers would make bows and arrows. and to make bows and arrows more interesting you could require more than a log of wood to make one. i was thinking that you would need to make a string for your bow and you have to choose one of two ways. Get flax and have a tailor spin it for you, or have a hunter hunt a deer and give you the sinew (animal tendon) then use it with the spinning wheel to make a bow string. involves some killing but not quite hack n slash. and if you've ever made a bow in rl you know it requires more than a simple saw and knowing how to cut wood. this could also incorperate different woods like instead of just "logs" there could be pine logs, yew logs, ect. Also, you could have demons drop "demon teeth" and be able to make a bow like an asiatic composite bow. (they used horns) different bows "shortbow" "longbow" "composite bow" "compound bow" of course it would differ in the required resources, like for a compound bow you need 3 strings instead of one, and the composite bow you need two demon teeth ect. I dont know much about flax but you could have a farmer grow it maybe, or druids harvest it like in the forest or on desert fringe

Whats that brilliant new in that Proposal?
Changing the Requirements of Crafted-Items has been proposed many times before. And even the Dev-Team sait that there will be changes.
Adding new and different Weapons doesnt make a good Proposal.
Short-,Long-,Kompositebows are not very unusual, but also not very important.

im not trying to concentrate on the weapons, the new skill. This way there could accually be hunters, and they could get things that are accually useful to crafts, like insides.

i think a bowyer skill would be very fun indeed.
I think the word you are looking for is "Fletcher".
of course it would differ in the required resources, like for a compound bow you need 3 strings instead of one, and the composite bow you need two demon teeth ect.
A composite bow is named thus as it is made of two or more types of wood to increase tension - why would they require demon teeth?
And what is a compound bow?

fletcher and bowyer are the same thing, because i have a book named the bowyers bible. ASIATIC composite bows used horns, compound bows just have multiple strings.

Being one myself (fletcher and bowyer)I like this idea very much. Altho there is not much reaosn for it, it just seperates every day carpenter from boyer, fletcher.
By the by and Boyer makes bows, and a fletcher makes arrows, the name comming from the feather flights on the tail of an arrow called fletching.

Another idea is to make arrows you need feathers from a chicken or bird of some sort. I dunno if that's what Drake meant....was it? Anyway I like the idea of there being more than just logs to make a bow or a chest. It takes more than the simples. It would add even more jobs to the game. Although....seems like forever before another update will be that will change something with skills. When is the next update suppose to come? Or is a big secret or something and no one has a clue?

I believe it is tomorrow, 1 gm wrote that somewhere. He said if everything goes the way they expect it will be Monday.
And on topic, I think that if you need to get birds for feathers that maybe you can have rare bird's feathers, like a pheonix. And the rarer the bird the harder it is to kill or pluck. And perhaps the feathers can give an arrow the ability to fly farther, so a pheonix's feather can glide an arrow farther then a regular crow's.

Shi'voc talked about a server update to fix some problems with the server, causing some bugs.
For an update of the game itself, there has to be programmed a new client.

Making tons of different birds would just make it a little confusing. That would be a lot of work...I would think at least.
Yeah I think they are just fixing some bugs or something. Not an actual update. Is this fix up suppose to take all day?

the main reason i like this idea is because it would really be the only skill you would have to go on an adventure to get the supplies needed, its good for all those people who dont like to sit around and knit or smith all day. Arrows are incredibly simple to make, therefore carpenter and bowyer should be able to make them. Its not very hard to find two goose feathers, split them in half, and stick them to and arrow with a little glue.
Got some other ideas too, leather quiver made by a tailor:helps archer shoot a little faster, recurve bows: shoot faster than a long bow but not as acurate, has to be recurved(bent, but has a chance of breaking, dependant on skill)
